In China, a modern-type human skull was found, which turned out to be at least 10,113 years old.
Xinhua News Agency reported.
The skull was found in the Zhalainor region, Inner Mongolia, which is located near the borders of Russia and Mongolia.
This is the oldest skull of this kind in the region and its find proves that quite developed human communities existed in China already in the Neolithic.
It is officially believed that the Chinese civilization is "only" 3500-5000 thousand years old.
To determine the age of the skull, the technique of radiocarbon analysis was applied.
Together with the 10-thousandth skull, three more skulls of the same type were found, but they were already much younger (7.4, 1.6 and 1 thousand years, respectively).
All the skulls were found during excavations in the spring of 2018 and after that they were studied at the museum, where all four skulls are now on display.

Historically, many northern tribes lived in this place, including the Xiongnu, Sinbi, and the Khitan nomad Mongols.
According to Wang Wei, president of the Chinese Society of Archeology, the owner of the ancient skull and his fellow tribesmen were skilled at making stone tools and were particularly adept at creating very thin but sharp stone blades.
