No one is safe from meeting a ghost, and yet most of us try to avoid typical haunted habitats, bypassing cemeteries and abandoned dilapidated houses. But the otherworldly all the same now and then pops up in the stories of terrified eyewitnesses or reckless adventurers. If you really want to play ghostbusters, we will tell you where to go. Bell tower on Poveglia Island (Italy)
Most often, places of mass death of people become habitats of ghosts. For example, the history of the Neapolitan island of Poveglia is known, where during the Roman Empire and in the Middle Ages those infected with the plague were exiled. Much later, in the 20th century, a nursing home appeared on the island. At first everything was fine, but after a few years the head doctor of the boarding house committed suicide, which finally ruined Poveglia's reputation.
Since then, the only inhabitants of the island are the ghosts of the dead plague patients, frantically ringing the bells of the medieval belfry. Chilling melodies are now and then heard by tourists who ventured to go on a boat trip to the island.

Napier Prison (New Zealand)
Once a year, on 15 July, footsteps and sighs are heard in Napier Hills. This returns to the place of execution the ghost of the serial killer Roland Edwards, who was serving his sentence within the walls of New Zealand's oldest prison.
To shed light on the mysterious stories of other former prisoners, the team of the International Ghostbusters show is sent to Napier (from October 4 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 23:00 Moscow time on the Travel Channel ─ available in the networks of cable and satellite operators, 16+). However, the hosts of the show are not the only ones who want to tickle their nerves: in 2001, the prison was converted into a hotel that does not know the end of the guests. Or are they prisoners?..
Kings Park Psychiatric Clinic (New York, USA)
Mental clinics are one of the most popular haunted habitats. Moreover, if the hospital is not functioning, and even built almost 200 years ago, the likelihood of meeting with a ghost increases many times over. This is confirmed by the testimony of eyewitnesses who visited the Kings Park asylum. The clinic, which received up to 10,000 patients in its best years, was closed in 1996. However, since then it has not been empty at all: according to rumors, several hundred ghosts of the mentally ill, who were treated and died in King's Park, live there. Their faces, distorted by grimaces of despair and horror, are periodically shown in the window openings, prompting bystanders to leave this strange place as soon as possible.
Cape Eyre Lighthouse (Wales, UK)
Lighthouses are considered secluded, romantic and mysterious structures. At the end of the 18th century, Cape Eyre was notorious among sailors: it was a great success to pass it without incident. To reduce the number of shipwrecks, a red-and-white stone lighthouse was erected on the cape, later converted to a solid color and made of metal.
Over time, the need for it disappeared, but a legend remained, telling about the caretaker, who died from unrequited feelings. The ghost of the lighthouse still roams the area, occasionally climbing the tower. Paying tribute to the history of tragic love, the current owner of the lighthouse installed a two-meter sculpture of the Guardian on its upper glass platform. In bad weather, it creaks in the wind, as if still warning sailors of danger.
Edinburgh Castle (Scotland)
The history of Edinburgh Castle goes back over 1000 years. During this time, several generations of eyewitnesses have changed, claiming that ghosts roam the halls and corridors.
Perhaps one of the most famous among them is the headless drummer, warning the inhabitants of the impending danger, and the bagpiper who perished in the dungeon during the Seven Years War. In addition to ghost musicians, in the castle you can meet French prisoners, prisoners and a crazy old man who haunts tourist groups.
