Why Peter and Paul Fortress loopholes
The Peter and Paul Fortress is located in St. Petersburg, on Hare Island. Looking at it, you understand well that in order to build such a structure, you need a huge human resource and technical equipment for construction.

Often such structures are located in lowlands, because they are supposed to stand on a hill, in a more advantageous position. Let's assume that these fortresses were defensive structures. Such an arrangement is not typical for defense.
