Express.co.uk: The Bermuda Triangle, a mysterious stretch of ocean where planes and ships disappear without a trace, has puzzled the world since the days of Christopher Columbus. It is believed that it was he who in 1492 reported in the ship's log "Santa Maria" about the observation in the Bermuda region of an incomprehensible light coming from an undetectable source.

No one immediately paid attention to Columbus's warnings and the surroundings of this so-called triangle became one of the most intensively used shipping lanes in the world. The area is crossed by ships going to ports in North and South America, as well as ships going from the Americas to Africa and Europe. And from time to time, these ships, as well as the planes crossing the area, disappear without a trace.

Popular culture attributes these disappearances to either mysterious ancient monsters, or the Atlanteans who settled at the bottom of the Ocean, some even blame aliens for everything. However, Siberian scientists who have investigated the recently appeared huge sinkholes in the Taimyr Peninsula and Yamal, hypothesize that the Bermuda mystery is caused by similar bottom gas explosions.

Recently, such craters began to appear one by one, which made superstitious local residents recall the words of shamans about the signs of the End of the World. Therefore, scientists from the Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics named after Trofimuka in Novosibirsk went on a scientific expedition to calm the dark people and find a normal explanation for the phenomenon.

In the weekly Science in Siberia, published by the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, researchers suggested that methane hydrate accumulations might be the cause of the mysteries. Scientist Vladimir Potapov put it this way:

“It turned out that gas hydrates are available both in a deep layer, which is located at a distance of several hundred meters on the peninsula, and in a layer close to the surface. Most likely they were the cause of the gas explosion. So far this has not been confirmed, but now everyone should propose and test all possible hypotheses."

Oleg Kushnarenko, chief engineer of the crater mission, which lasted four days, adds: “We checked the magnetic and radiation background and found no deviations there. Therefore, while all suspicions fall on gas hydrates."

Igor Yeltsov, deputy head of the Institute, mentions in the article that there is a theory according to which the Bermuda Triangle is also formed by gas hydrates. From time to time, hydrate deposits are destroyed and methane rises to the surface, which causes the appearance of "extreme turbulence" that spreads even to the atmosphere. Mr. Yeltsov writes the following:

“From time to time, hydrates begin to actively decompose with the transformation of methane ice into gas. It happens like an avalanche, like a nuclear reaction that produces huge amounts of gas. As a result, the ocean, having received a huge amount of gas, begins to bubble and the buoyancy of the water changes. A ship caught in the area of such anomalous bubbling goes to the bottom instantly. In addition, the gas release causes the air to become supersaturated with methane, creating an extremely turbulent atmosphere. It ends with a plane crash."

As people of very broad views, we will not argue with academicians, especially since there is a certain reason in their theory. The only weak point of the hypothesis is the limited areas of gas emissions to Yamal, Taimyr and the Bermuda Triangle. It turns out that nowhere else there are funnels.

More precisely, they seem to exist, but other academics come to them and therefore theories are also different: karst caves, old coal mines, volcanic activity, and so on. However, this does not change the essence of what is happening: more and more holes appear in the Earth, and some appear even in water. This is how legends are born about the Bermuda Triangles, where planes and ships disappear.

According to the prophecies, soon the area of occurrence of such craters will greatly expand and the Bermuda Triangle will be everywhere at once. Moreover, not only planes and ships, but entire cities will disappear in it, so we are following the development of events.
