After this discovery, research began. The University of California at Berkeley and the Nevada Historical Society sent scientists there. A mining engineer and amateur anthropologist from Lovelock, Nevada, examined and measured several bones that he removed from the cave, and found that those to whom they belonged may have grown from 2 to 3 meters. These bone remains are still kept in the Museum of the State Historical Society of Nevada.
