Scientists working on the Sloan Digital Sky Survey have presented a comprehensive analysis of the largest three-dimensional map of the universe ever created. The new results come from an extended spectroscopic survey of baryon oscillations, on which more than 100 astrophysicists from around the world have worked. This was reported in a press release from SDSS.
Researchers have measured more than 2 million galaxies and quasars. Work on the project has lasted for the last two decades, and its results have made it possible to fill a gap in the history of the Universe of 11 billion years. We are at the center of this map.

The map allowed scientists to identify patterns in the distribution of galaxies across the universe as it expanded. With this data, physicists will also be able to refine the Hubble constant, which indicates the expansion rate of the universe.
