By 2050, children will be born through artificial insemination, and sex in people's lives will remain only as an activity for pleasure and without consequences. This forecast was made by the famous American scientist Carl Jerassi.
One of the inventors of oral contraceptives, Professor Carl Jerassi from Stanford University, who died in 2015 at the age of 91, predicted that in a few decades, the development of science and a fundamental change in the basic values of mankind will lead to a natural result: sex will no longer be required for reproduction.
If, for example, in 2014 only people who have any medical contraindications for natural conception (and their number is relatively small) resort to in vitro fertilization (IVF), then by 2050 this procedure will become ubiquitous.
According to Professor Jerassi, this forecast has no “minuses” - only “pluses”. The scenario of the reproductive path of mankind will be as follows: young women and men, being in better physical shape, will massively freeze their eggs and sperm, and then undergo a sterilization procedure. After that, they no longer have to worry about the "appropriate" time for conception and the "ticking" biological clock; but you can fully focus on your career and other matters. Having sex will remain only as a way to get pleasure, but it will no longer lead to pregnancies - and especially undesirable ones. Accordingly, the phenomenon of abortion will also disappear.
Karl Jerassi made the history of science and medicine with his invention of the world's first oral contraceptive prototype in 1951. Together with several colleagues, Jerassi discovered progestin (progestin norethindrone), which, unlike progesterone, works even when taken orally and is much more effective than the natural hormone.
Progesterone is produced by the body of pregnant women and helps the embryo to implant in the uterus. The remedy works as a contraceptive, making the body believe that a pregnancy has already occurred: thus, a natural defense reaction is initiated in the body, preventing subsequent fertilization.
The new drug was being developed then as a drug against neurological disorders, as well as to help infertile women. As a result, a new word in contraception was created. Jerassi is also known as the author of several books, including collections of poetry and science fiction novels.

Nevertheless, his prediction of the future pattern of childbearing does not belong to the category of fantasy: for the Western states, this path looks quite real. However, even there, as well as in the countries of the "third world" and in places where the influence of religion on life remains very strong, there is no need to talk about a 100% transition to IVF and sterilization.
