These are people whose electromagnetic fields have an impact hundreds and thousands of times greater than the capabilities of the electromagnetic field of an ordinary person.

This "high voltage" syndrome was first documented in 1786. Subsequently, there were many times when people literally began to “spark”, attract or repel objects.

One of the first cases of studying the phenomenon of "electric people" dates back to 1846.

On January 15, a young Frenchwoman, Angelique Coten, who turned 14, experienced a strange condition that lasted about 10 days. As soon as she touched any object, he immediately bounced off her. The slightest touch of a hand or a dress was enough to make even heavy furniture spin and jump around the room. The French Academy of Sciences created a special research group, which included the famous physicist Domenic François Arago. The Journal de Debat, in its February 1846 issue, published his investigation report.

"High voltage" syndrome

“… I’m not going to dissemble, the study of this phenomenon puzzled me… And not only me. The point is not that science is powerless - such a concept does not exist in

principle, but the fact that today she is simply not yet ready to explain the nature of electricity in man. It is especially not clear that, being sometimes deadly to others, electric people, as a rule, do not pose any threat to themselves … It will take years to study this phenomenon, but the conclusions will still not be unambiguous, since the objects of research will inevitably change” … (From the book "Selected Articles from Notes on Scientific Subjects")

Gift or attack?

According to Arago, the strength that the girl possessed was akin to electromagnetism: in her presence, the compass needle literally “went crazy” and began to spin in all directions. “Electromagnetic force” acted on Angelica in such a way that she was constantly beating in convulsions, and her pulse rate soared up to 120 beats per minute. The girl herself was scared of what was happening and ran away from home …

17-year-old Ontario) Caroline Clare contracted a strange disease in 1877. Her symptoms were severe weakness and weight loss.

This went on for a long year and a half, then, for no apparent reason, her health began to improve rapidly. However, after recovering, Caroline suddenly

discovered that her body, like a magnet, attracts all metal objects in the house, and touching anything living with her hand leads to disastrous results - a person or an animal immediately loses consciousness from a strong electric shock. This went on for several months, then Caroline's "witchcraft" disappeared.

16 years later, in another state, Missouri, something similar began to happen to 14-year-old Jenny Moran. So, long sparks from her fingers flew out when she tried to grab the brass doorknob. At the same time, she herself was in great pain. A local doctor named Airshcraft, who tried to cure the girl, received such an electric shock on the very first day that he could not recover from the shock for a long time and after that he no longer touched Jenny's wrist.

Jenny Moran's illness continued for several agonizing years, then, as in the case of Caroline, the “electric gift” disappeared …

Life threatening

Today's British doctors are well aware of the resident of Manchester Pauline Shaw, for whom the scandalous fame of the "electric pirate" was fixed with the light hand of journalists. As the newspaper "Sun" recently reported, as soon as it touches any electrical device, it immediately ceases to function. In a relatively short time, Pauline disabled more than 100 washing machines, televisions, tape recorders and other household appliances.

“Sometimes I have an unbearable headache,” says Pauline Shaw. “This means that I have an excess of electricity and I need to discharge myself urgently.” If this is not done in time, sparkling charges up to 8 centimeters long begin to break off from Pauline's fingers. So the "electric pirate" is also a potential arsonist.

The young Italian Tina Costello is not far behind in “electric” fame from her English “colleague”. She discovered her unusual abilities when she got a job at a company that specializes in congratulations with surprises. Tina's duties included (on instructions from relatives or friends) to go to the specified address and kiss the hero of the occasion. But not even a week had passed since the start of work, when complaints began to come in. After a short trial, it turned out that when Tina kissed a client, he received a strong electric charge. Naturally, not everyone was happy with the electric shock as a congratulation … One client even had to be urgently sent to the hospital.

Tina tried to get rid of the misfortune that had befallen her, but the doctors she turned to only shrugged their shoulders thoughtfully and advised her to change her profession.

Well, at least Tina Costello has a choice. The same cannot be said about the twins from Sri Lanka Mahamada and Sharila. Unlike Tina Costello, all parts of their body are electrified.

So touching them is life-threatening.

“The impression is as if you are touching a bare wire through which a current is passed,” said the brothers' mother, upset by this circumstance. -

When it first happened to me, I could not remember myself from fear."

Experts who have examined the brothers, each of whom are already 4 years old, could not think of anything better than to say that they probably acquired a charge of static electricity while riding a bicycle or for a long time in contact with metal objects.

Inexplicable light

There is ample evidence that people suddenly start to glow. In May 1934, a sensational event took place, which was named "the glowing woman from Pirano." Reports of this have migrated from the pages of medical publications to newspapers around the world. An Italian woman named Anna Monaro suffered from asthma, and for several weeks while she slept, blue light emanated from her chest. Many doctors observed this phenomenon, which each time (intermittently) continued for several seconds. They proposed the theory of "electromagnetic radiation", linking it with certain chemical components found in the patient's skin. In the medical literature, "incidents" of the luminescence of the human body are usually associated with pathology. The only case of emission of light by a healthy person was described in 1869 in the English journal Mechanics: “One American woman, going to bed, discovered the glow of the upper part of the fourth toe of her right foot. When she rubbed her leg, the glow intensified and some unknown force spread her fingers. The light emission did not stop when the leg was immersed in a basin of water … It lasted three quarters of an hour, and the woman's husband watched him."

Science is silent

Superweak luminescence is characteristic of almost all living organisms, but it is far from always possible to explain it by reasons known to science. As for electromagnetism, it is also in one way or another inherent in any organism and is associated with the presence in it of charged particles with superweak magnetic fields. What causes a sudden, multiple amplification of this field in a person, turning him into a walking magnet, a supercharged capacitor or an electric lamp? To this, alas, there is no answer yet.
