Today we will talk about a riddle that has tormented me since childhood. Have you seen antique sculptures? You probably noticed not typical facial features in some sculptures, namely:
- big eyes
- small mouth
- powerful bridge of the nose
- curly hair
- small genitals
Sculptures with these signs are similar to each other as if they are either close relatives or … a separate race.
Anthropometrically, they do not differ from ordinary people, but their faces are very similar.
Have you seen people with these facial features in your life? Maybe you are familiar with such a person?
I have never seen such people live. It turns out that in antiquity they were, and then disappeared somewhere. But where? Neither in the Middle Ages nor in the era of the Renaissance there are no such types.

Tellingly, this type of face in sculpture is characteristic only for the image of the Olympic gods and heroes, very rarely found among the Roman emperors.
So maybe we, without knowing it, are watching what the gods looked like? Maybe these are the same "progressors" who gave science to people, and then mysteriously disappeared somewhere, leaving a trace only in art.
Or maybe these are the surviving representatives of an ancient civilization that was destroyed by some monstrous cataclysm?
