- On social networks, people from all over the world describe strange incidents that happened to them. I have studied from a thousand such stories. Two plots stand out: here was a thing, a second - and it is not. The second plot is doubles: a man walked past you, then again, and assures, "the first one was not me." Of course, there are many fantasies in social networks, there are also unhealthy people, but these events seem to be true. "Big science" ignores these oddities. Or am I wrong?

- Disregard for the "strange" comes from self-confident ignorance. Truly big science sees the world in all its weirdness, and the world gets weirder as more powerful devices appear. Here is the table. It looks hard to the eye. We take an electron microscope, and we see atoms, and between them - a void. That is, the table actually consists of emptiness. Okay, but at least the atoms themselves are solid!

We take an accelerator of elementary particles, and we see that the atom also consists mainly of emptiness. Around the nucleus - electrons, or particles, or waves, the nucleus - protons and neutrons. Okay, but at least protons with neutrons are solid. But upon closer inspection, both decay into quarks. And the Large Hadron Collider demonstrates that a quark is not a "particle", but a kind of one-dimensional vibrating string. It turns out that everything around is energy, vibrations, and "solid matter" is a kind of illusion.

Scientists are wondering, maybe we live in the Matrix, and the world is just a computer simulation? In fact, there is no need to guess, in fact it is. The world of "solid objects" is convenient and comfortable. He took a glass, put it on the table, he won't go anywhere. But there is a problem: it is illusory, and we ourselves created it for us, for the capabilities of our senses. Yes, we are in the Matrix, which was created by nature and our brain.

Last year, an international team of scientists proved that the world is illusory, and each observer has his own "hologram". They managed to implement "in hardware" a thought experiment proposed by physicist Eugene Wiener. Wiener argued: if one sees that the famous Schrödinger's cat is dead, a friend of this observer will see that the cat is alive. This was called the "paradox of Wiener's friend." Scientists with great difficulty synthesized six pairs of special photons, and it turned out that nothing in the Universe is "established", "firmly established" until information about this has gone around the entire Universe. And, since the Universe is large, everything around essentially exists in a kind of suspended state. My book fell off the table. But, until information about this reached the most distant galaxy, my book is in a quantum superposition somewhere between the table and the floor.

When the Big Bang happened, the world was very simple, consisted of pure energy, and was described by one formula. But the Universe was expanding, cooling down, and gravitation, electromagnetism, strong and weak interactions were released from the initially unified energy (the latter two "hold" elementary particles in the atomic nucleus together). Everything is confused, and now physicists are trying to unravel the confused, to find the formula of the One, the one from which everything began.

The term "entanglement" is acutely relevant in modern physics. You've probably heard about quantum entanglement. Let's say that two quanta are "friends", interact, and then scatter to different corners of the Universe. But the connection remains forever. If something happens to one, the other will exactly repeat the state of the first. And he "learns" about it instantly, faster than the speed of light. This is no longer a theory: engineers are about to present a new generation of communication that will replace the Internet and cellular telephony, and the teacher shows experiments on quantum entanglement in good schools just on the table.

To "feel" that One, one must return to the state of the Big Bang, when colossal energies prevailed. Where, how? So far, the best tool is the Large Hadron Collider. The proton in the collider is larger than the proton. We have almost learned how to turn it into primary matter, pumping it with colossal energies. This is where fears come on the scene that we will create a black hole in the center of Europe, or provoke the "butterfly effect", and everything around will blur, like in the paintings of Salvador Dali. If you think that this is idle talk, and physicists themselves do not discuss it over a cup of coffee, then you are mistaken.

So, the world consists of energy. What follows from this?

- It is very possible that physicists have not discovered all energies and interactions. Deja vu, disappearing objects, doubles that have no idea about each other's existence, ghosts - all this can be a manifestation of unknown particles and energies. There is simply no tool yet to measure it. Lack of energy. Or, in principle, another tool is needed. Let's imagine, for example, that there is such a thing as “soul”, it has energy, and there are particles that carry this energy.

The word "soul" is increasingly appearing in the research of physicists. The aforementioned Joe Davis speaks of the "thermodynamic soul": it is the "energetic memory" of even a person, even of a stone, which animates the entire Universe. The idea that the world is animate follows from the principles of quantum mechanics: the photon somehow "consciously" chooses its path from the lamp to the pages of your book. If you try to control the path of each photon, they will change their behavior - "guys, they are following us."

WHISPER, EASY BREATH

So, soul?

- We are looking for quarks and Higgs bosons at high energies. It is also reasonable to look for a “particle of the soul” at high energies. And what are these energies? Wars, death of millions of people. Mother's love for her child. Something happened to the child on the other side of the world, the mother feels. We are surprised: extrasensory perception! At the same time, we are not surprised that the “entangled” photons feel each other in the same way. So maybe the “photons of the soul” of the mother and child are also in a state of quantum entanglement?

So far, the best "collider" for researching these things remains the person himself. A man sits alone in the evening, recalls a deceased relative. I looked at his portrait and concentrated. I set up my "collider". He is alone, day's affairs are behind, nothing distracts. And … something has changed. We don't know what exactly. A rustle, a shadow fell, the book that the deceased loved moved. What is this, a game of imagination? And if you try to describe these phenomena in the formulas of quantum mechanics, then there is no mysticism. If the “soul quantum” exists, your quanta are entangled. So you have entered into interaction.

We can assume that some can customize their "collider" more efficiently than others. Prophets, saints, beloved dictators, or leaders like Elon Musk are people who are better at manipulating hypothetical, not yet discovered, energies. It seems to me that self-isolation has changed us a lot. They took all of humanity, and cut off from the hustle and bustle, immersed everyone in themselves. If I'm right, the consequences will be enormous. The transition to remote work, changes in the economy - all these are little things. The person will become different.

A rustle, a shadow fell … I got goosebumps. Let's say ghosts exist. Who are they: just energy, or personality?

- Some physicists argue that consciousness ends with its carrier, but the evidence, frankly speaking, is speculative.

Recently, two physicist friends clashed in public. Adam Frank stated that the soul and the afterlife do not exist, because we cannot get any information "from there". Alva Noe objected harshly: science boasts that it can predict. It was calculated that the ship would float - and it really does not sink. But science cannot predict the outcome of a boxing match. So, according to your logic, boxers do not exist! They separated friends from the entire scientific world.

Others believe that as yet undiscovered "human energy" is impersonally sent to some kind of storage, like the noosphere. Another point of view is closer to me. With the loss of the physical body, a person goes into, let's say, a quantum state. As a matter of fact, of course, no one knows.

What is this quantum state? Tsiolkovsky said that the evolution of our species did not stop. We have to give up the body and become pure energy

- Rockets made according to his principles fly. Maybe he is otherwise right?

The theory that unites quantum mechanics and "soul" is called "Orch OR" (Organized Objective Reduction) and is promoted by Stuart Hameroff of the University of Arizona and Sir Roger Penrose of Oxford. It assumes that there are protein polymers inside the brain's neurons that live according to quantum laws and give rise to our consciousness. According to this theory, consciousness exists after the physical death of the body, and can also separate from it and travel around the Universe during life. Penrose showed back in the 1980s that a quantum computer would be intelligent by definition. It won't be long to wait: they will be launched in a couple of years.

MATRYOSHKA OF ILLUSIONS

- As a person who swims uncertainly and strives to touch the bottom with his foot, I always want to return to matter and, as it were, grab onto it

- Well, the illusion of the familiar three-dimensional world sits firmly in us, probably because it was good for our evolution. We created a material civilization, believing that we are doing “serious business”: steel, concrete, powerful machines. But now the achievements of our own civilization are pushing us to understand how things really are. It's time to grow up.

The table, chair, arms, legs are just a visual interpretation of the real world. Take the problem of measurements. Length Width Height. With difficulty, we are still able to understand that there is still a fourth dimension - time. And then - the imagination is not enough. The three-dimensional world is convenient. We are so used to it. In fact, the world has an infinite number of dimensions.

Let's train the brain and you will see how logical and simple everything is. Draw a line. The creatures living in it are two-dimensional, they have no width, and they can only move back and forth. But you can move the whole line. This is "time" for 2D beings. We go into our world, and the “time” of two-dimensional beings becomes our width, a third dimension, which the inhabitants of the two-dimensional world do not have. But we ourselves have time, which we interpret as "past, present and future" and which for the inhabitants of other worlds, with four dimensions, is just "another width", and not "past". But they have their own "time" and so on. As a result, we get a matryoshka of illusions.

Add to this the observer paradox, which we have already touched upon. The world changes when we look at it. This is one of the foundations of quantum mechanics, the uncertainty principle. For physicists, this is not an abstraction, but an everyday reality: if you observe an object, “feel” it with photons, it is no longer the same without you.

The uncertainty principle was formulated in the 1920s, and it seemed so strange that physicists refused to believe in it, even when it was confirmed by thousands of experiments. The principle says: nature exists only as long as we look at it. Niels Bohr's associate, physicist Pascual Jordan, said: "We do not observe reality, we create it." In the 1970s, John Wheeler conducted an experiment that showed that nature not only changes from our gaze, it “knows” in advance whether we will look at it. The above-mentioned quantum computer, as it were, will connect the primordial "knowledge" of the Universe with our consciousness.

YES THE SAVIOR COMES

- In principle of uncertainty, I have always been interested in this. Let's imagine an abandoned village somewhere in a deep taiga. The principle of uncertainty in all seriousness says that until a group of tourists wanders there, there is no village. And if a fox or an ant is looking at the village? Are they observers?

- And the fox, and the bird, and the ant - everything that receives energy from the object is considered an observer. Even a stone: it heats up during the day and cools down at night. In general, the world is a system of endless interactions. An ant observes a stone, a stone observes the Earth, that one observes the Sun. Amazingly, your village wouldn't exist without the Andromeda Nebula. When we crush an ant, we destroy the observer. Theoretically, at this moment, somewhere a galaxy may die. Honestly, I think about it sometimes. I console myself this way: I cannot walk and not accidentally crush ants, I am so made. So it should be so.

Isn't God the universal observer, thanks to whom everything exists?

- I go to church. From a quantum point of view, God is a law that connects an infinite number of interactions, from the ant to the planet. The Formula of God, if it exists, is a theory of everything that physicists, starting with Albert Einstein, have been unsuccessfully searching for. Do you know what it looks like? You are sitting in a room, light is falling through the windows. Radio waves are still running through the room, but you can't see them. Turn on the receiver and there they are. But that is not all. The room is filled with cosmic rays, radiation that flies towards us from space and from which there is nowhere to hide. Further, the room has a past, it left some kind of trace. There is a future, and quantum mechanics says that the future is also present "here and now." The one who sees it all together is God.

Hence it follows: the more you see, the wider your horizons, the more you resemble a quantum God. Einstein saw more of the ordinary person. The composer was given a "musical" vision. For compassionate people - the vision of good. A truly kind person is no less great than Einstein, he is a genius of kindness.

Philosophical question: in your subjective opinion, is humanity getting better or worse? Are people getting stupid or getting smarter?

- The flow of information has grown enormously. It overloads our "receiver", our brain. Worse, the lion's share is rubbish. My business is social media content analysis. It consists almost entirely of re-posts, nothing new is done there. It will get even tougher in the future. There will be no real information at all. Smartphones will go away, they will be replaced by "smart" glasses and other gadgets that will drive commercial information directly into the brain, in addition to consciousness: buy, buy, buy. In part, the future has already arrived. Only China still retains digital sovereignty.

We will get one or two generations of people who are incapable of creativity. Then the sobering will come. But it will be too late. The role of the savior will most likely be assumed not by a person, but by a neural network. She will take care of us like an ant takes care of aphids. I hope everything will turn out well in the end. But I really don't know if there will be.
