Express.co.uk: With the development of astronomy, cosmology and theoretical physics, scientists are putting forward more and more wild terrifying theories of the death of our Universe: Heat Death, Gravitational Collapse, Big Rip (this is when all matter suddenly collapses), Big Rebound, and so on.

The theory generally accepted today is that the universe will perish after a very, very long time in a process known as the Big Bang. It will be like the reverse of the Big Bang, when the Universe, having completed its expansion, will begin to narrow and collapse into a point:

And now, based on the decryption of the data of the CERN experiments, physicists are inclined to a new theory, according to which the Universe can disappear at any moment and even surprisingly - how the world can exist at all! The details of this shocking theory are revealed by Professor Brian Cox.

As the professor explains, our universe is permeated and held together by the global Higgs energy field. This field is inhomogeneous and varies in strength depending on the potential, which is either in one of two states - true vacuum or false vacuum.

True vacuum is a stable state with the lowest energy, while false vacuum is a state in quantum field theory that is not a state with a globally minimum energy, but corresponds to its local minimum. Such a state is stable for a certain time (metastable), but it can "tunnel" into a state of true vacuum.

Purely theoretically, at the moment of the Big Bang, one Universe should have formed, consisting of a true vacuum and many Universes or, at least, Metagalaxies, consisting of a false vacuum. Such Universes / Metagalaxies exist, as it were, conditionally and at any moment of time can be absorbed by the real Universe, consisting of a true vacuum.

In the science film by Professor Brian Cox, Astrophysicist Katie Mack tells viewers the following shocking facts:

Katy Mack goes on to say:

Professor Brian Cox agrees with this gloomy conclusion of his colleague, expressing only the hope that if the world awaits annihilation, it will not happen today:

Editorial comment

The idea of the metastability of the Universe is not new and was known to the sages of Ancient India, who called this world the word Maya, that is, an illusion. Nevertheless, it is gratifying that modern physics has come a little closer to understanding the world by paupuas walking in palm leaves. This again makes one think that these Papuans in the leaves were the heirs of some ancient wise civilization, to which the adepts of the Large Hadron Collider are somewhat far away.

In addition, if earlier the words of the prophets about “the sky will roll up into a scroll” and “the world will burn” was perceived by the public exclusively as metaphors, now a theoretical and experimental basis has been provided for these “metaphors”.

Not only Neo from the Matrix, but also many people with some kind of inner feeling, subconsciously or somewhere in the depths of memory, understand that the existing world is somehow not real. And now even the great adepts from CERN also nod sadly and say that the Universe is not real and at any moment can dissolve in a real vacuum, only an initiating impulse is needed. Therefore, we are waiting for the one or those who kick this rotten little world and follow the development of events.
