Not everyone knows that in Baalbek (see previous publication), in addition to the famous Triliton (three blocks weighing 900-1000 tons each), there is also a chain of "smaller" blocks - weighing 300-400 tons each, and there are several dozen of them.

The location of these blocks is shown schematically in the 1911 drawing (by Otto Pechstein) - for clarity, I marked it in green.

A number of these blocks are below Trilithon and partially below Trilithon.

It should be noted that these blocks (from the mega-sampling), in all likelihood, serve as the basis for laying on them "larger" blocks, which are still in the quarry nearby (about 1 km). The weight of blocks in the quarry, and there are at least 4 of them, is approximately equal to from 1000 to 1700 tons each! It is clear that the complex was not completed according to the original project, but this is a separate topic for conversation …

The so-called Northern megabence (right).

But we are interested in the southern side - there the traces were best preserved (for a long time they were actually preserved under a layer of various debris).

Southern megabence.

For orientation, it should be noted that right behind the arched niches in the distance, a little to the right is a wall with Trilithon (see photo above).

If you look closely, you will notice (and it is impossible not to notice!) That the traces of processing these blocks resemble deep grooves … And all right, these grooves could be attributed to the work of a stonecutter with the help of a very large hairpin or pick.

But which tool can be used to write off a trace that is visible only from a distance from a general angle?

These are the tracks:

In order not to be biased in "convenient angles", you can compare with another source.

It's hard not to notice! But these traces most of all resemble the work of a huge milling cutter on a stone …

Let me remind you that the foundation of the Temple of Jupiter (and this is exactly what it is), even the official historical science does not risk dating any period (unless, Phoenician - everything huge and ancient, usually Phoenician and is dated - dogma) …
