It would seem that in the 21st century there are no more places on Earth where no man's foot has gone. However, from time to time, Nature reveals to us her new wonders, feeding the craving for the Unknown. So, in 2009 in Vietnam, they found the largest cave in the world - Son Doong Cave. Its length is almost 9 kilometers, in some places it reaches 150 meters wide, and up to 250 meters high. The cave is located 500 km south of Hanoi in the Quang Binh province on the border of Vietnam and Laos.
The main feature of the cave is the presence of valleys - giant holes in the ceiling, where sunlight penetrates. A real jungle with endemic flora and fauna grows in these places - that is, there are no such plants and animals anywhere else in the world!
In addition, giant stalactites and stalagmites grow here - up to 70 m in height. And a river flows along the bottom of the cave.
In fact, the locals discovered the cave back in 1991, but British explorers were able to study it in detail in 2009. The first tourists came here only in 2013. In order to get here, you need to obtain a permit (special permit) from the government of Vietnam. Only 500 permits are issued per season.
Tourist activity here lasts from February to August. Then the wet season comes, and the river flowing along the bottom of the cave overflows so much that it becomes impossible to get inside. Today there is only one company authorized to conduct excursions in the cave, and a three-day hike with tents costs from $ 3000.
