Mother seemed to know all the events in advance. Every day of her life is a stream of sorrows and sorrows of people who come. Helping the sick, consoling and healing them.

Matryona Dimitrievna Nikonova was born on November 22, 1881 in the Tula province. At her baptism, the girl was named Matrona in honor of the Monk Matrona of Constantinople, a Greek ascetic of the 5th century, whose memory is celebrated on November 9 (22). When the priest lowered the child into the font, those present saw a column of fragrant light smoke above the baby. This was also confirmed by the village priest Father Vasily, who was famous among the parishioners as a righteous and blessed person. Father Vasily understood at once that this was a sign that the baby was chosen by God. He said:

- I baptized a lot, but this is the first time I see this, and this baby will be holy. This girl was given by the Lord. This child will take my place. Blind, she will see what is not given to the sighted, and predict my end.

So later it happened. One night Matronushka suddenly told her mother that Father Vasily had died. The surprised and frightened parents ran to the priest's house. When they arrived, it turned out that he had really just passed away….

Having deprived Matrona of sight, the Lord gave her spiritual sight. But Matrona also had a surprisingly accurate idea of the world around her, although she was born blind. She could easily list all the icons in the church, tell about them, although she had never seen these images.

Once Zinaida Zhdanova, who left extensive memories of Matrona, in a conversation sympathized with her, regretting that she did not see the surrounding beauty of the world. The matron smiled meekly and replied:

- Once God opened my eyes and showed me the world and His creation. And I saw the sun, and the stars in the sky, and everything on earth, the beauty of the earth: mountains, rivers, green grass, flowers, birds.

The First World War had just begun, and Matrona had already predicted the revolution and Russia's dark days. She often talked about how "they will rob, destroy churches and drive everyone in a row." She said:

The revolution broke out …

In these difficult times, Matrona, as best she could, admonished and instructed those who came to her for advice and consolation. When asked how to live on in times of violence and godlessness, she replied:

The blessed one taught not to condemn neighbors:

- How did the Lord allow godlessness in Russia? - the believers asked her. - So many churches have been closed! All the churches were destroyed, the church utensils were taken away, the salaries were stripped from the images.

Brothers Matrona could not withstand the temptation - both joined the party, publicly renounced God, became rural activists, closed the churches themselves, called for atheism. Their sister, known to everyone in the district, who had fed the whole family for many years, became a burden, the brothers were afraid, since the people went and went to her during these years. In 1925, they took her to Moscow to her distant relatives, out of sight.

Blessed Matrona lived for almost 30 years, or rather wandered in strange corners. She lived in Moscow until her death, this city immediately fell in love, called Moscow "the holy city, the heart of Russia." Matrona's life in Moscow is a series of endless wanderings from corner to corner, from room to room. Then they lived closely, so that Matrona literally had to huddle in corners, in hallways and closets. In addition, she lived in Moscow without a registration, which was fraught with serious consequences for the people who gave her shelter. For this, they could arrest and exile to places far away not only Matrona herself, but also those who sheltered her. The blessed and sheltered people were saved by Matrona's sagacity. She foresaw trouble with her inner vision and always managed to move out on time. They came to arrest her, but the blind old woman was gone.

Here is what Zinaida Zhdanova, with whom the blessed one later lived for a long time, told about how hard it was at times for Matrona:

“I came to Sokolniki, where my mother often lived in a small plywood house, given to her for a while. It was deep autumn. I entered the house, and in the house there was thick, damp and dank steam, an iron stove was being heated. I went up to my mother, and she was lying on the bed facing the wall, she could not turn to me, her hair was frozen to the wall, barely tore off. I said in horror: “Mother, how is it? After all, you know that we live together with my mother, my brother is at the front, my father is in prison and that what happened to him is unknown, but we have two rooms in a warm house, forty-eight square meters, a separate entrance; why didn't you ask us? " Mother sighed heavily and said: "God did not order you not to regret it later."

In a house on the Arbat, in Starokonyushenny lane, in an old wooden mansion, in the apartment of her former fellow villager E. M. Zhdanova, Matrona lived from 1942 to 1949. Here she settled down, collected many icons: three corners in the apartment from floor to ceiling were hung with icons.

Many people who gave shelter to Matrona were later arrested and exiled. Zinaida Zhdanova was convicted of participation in a religious-monarchist group.

Once there was a case when someone wrote a denunciation to the police that a blind old woman lived in the Zhdanovs' apartment without a residence permit, who conducts religious propaganda, illegally treats and divines. The district police officer read the denunciation and went to the address. Matrona was at home, behaving calmly. When the district police officer demanded documents from her, telling her to go to the department, Matrona said:

- I'll get myself together. I have to get ready - to get myself out of bed. But you'd better run home as soon as possible, you have a trouble there. Don't stop! Run! You will come for me later. Where will the blind old woman go from you?

The district policeman, not knowing why, heeded the advice and went home. It turned out that kerogas exploded from careless handling, his wife received severe burns and lay unconscious on the floor. The policeman picked her up and took her to the hospital. Fortunately, he made it in time, the doctors said that a little more and it would not have been possible to save the woman.

When the district police officer returned to service, the chief asked him:

- You brought a blind old woman who lives without a registration?

The district police officer replied that this old woman saved the life of his wife and that he would never do evil to the blind seer. The chief listened to the story of the district police officer and silently tore up the denunciation. So, they say, the old woman lived with the Zhdanovs for so many years, and no one touched her.

The same Zinaida Zhdanova told an amazing case about the clairvoyance and inner vision of Matrona:

“Mother was completely illiterate, but she knew everything. In 1946, I had to defend my graduation project for the building of the Ministry of the Navy (I was then studying at the Architectural Institute in Moscow). My leader, for no reason, was persecuting me all the time. For five months, he never consulted me, deciding to "flunk" my diploma. Two weeks before the defense, he announced to me: "Tomorrow the commission will come and approve the insolvency of your work!" I came home in tears: my father was in prison, there was no one to help, my mother was my dependents, my only hope was to protect myself and work.

Mother listened to me and said: “Nothing, nothing, you will defend yourself! Let's drink tea in the evening, we'll talk! " I barely waited for the evening, and now my mother says: "We will go with you to Italy, to Florence, to Rome, we will see the creations of great masters." And she began to list streets, buildings! She stopped: "Here is the Palazzo Pitti, here is another palace with arches, do the same as there - three lower floors of the building with large masonry and two arches of the entrance."

I was shocked by her conduct. In the morning I ran to the institute, put tracing paper on the project and made all the corrections with brown ink. The commission arrived at ten o'clock. They looked at my project and said: "Why, the project turned out, looks great - defend yourself!"

Zinaida Vladimirovna Zhdanova described the blessed one as follows:

“Who was Matronushka? Mother was an incarnate warrior angel, as if a fiery sword was in her hands to fight an evil force. She healed with prayer, water. She was small, like a child, all the time she reclined on her side, on her fist. She slept like that, never really went to bed. When she received people, she sat down, crossing her legs, two arms extended directly above the head of the person who came in the air, put her fingers on the head of the person standing in front of her on her knees, cross her, say the main thing that his soul needs, pray. She lived without her own corner, property, supplies. Whoever invited, she lived with. She lived on offerings that she herself could not dispose of. She was in obedience to the evil Pelagia, who disposed of everything and distributed everything that they brought to mother to her relatives. Without her knowledge, mother could neither drink nor eat..

Mother seemed to know all the events in advance. Every day of her life is a stream of sorrows and sorrows of people who come. Helping the sick, consoling and healing them. There were many healings through her prayers. He will take the head of the weeping one with both hands, regret it, warm him with his holiness, and the person leaves elated. And she, exhausted, only sighs and prays all night long. She had a dimple on her forehead, from the frequent sign of the cross. She baptized herself slowly, diligently, her fingers were looking for a hole."

Blind from birth, she taught others to see spiritual, deprived, taught those who came to her to follow the path of faith. People walked and walked; she received up to forty people a day. And you need to talk to everyone, say a good word, listen patiently. During the day she was so tired that by evening she could not say a word. She lay facing the wall, on her cam, and only moaned softly.

She did not preach, she did not teach, she only prayed and gave advice. And she always said when she was thanked too much:

- Praise God, He helps through my prayers. Matronushka, what is God, or what? Not Matronushka - God helps!

According to numerous testimonies, Blessed Matrona, always kind, spoke militantly and irreconcilably about sorcerers and sorcerers, said that they run around with evil spirits, treat with evil.

There is a lot of evidence of the seer's predictions.

Once in the house where she lived, there was a noisy, crowded quarrel. The matron sat quietly, then suddenly coughed, and when everyone turned to her, she said:

- You are quarreling, scolding each other, and soon you will regret each other, because the war will soon be.

It was in 1939.

On the eve of 1941, Matrona often spoke of the fact that there would be a big war and many people would die. When a distant relative asked her advice at the beginning of 1941: she was given a permit, and she did not want to go in the winter, Matrona advised her to go, because then there would be no holidays, there would be a war. She said that Moscow would not be touched by the enemy, it would "only burn a little," but our people would win anyway.

When the war began, Matronushka prayed incessantly. She said that she was invisibly at the front, helping our soldiers as best she could.

People went and went to Matrona, she healed many, brought relief to many. As already mentioned, she healed with prayer. Sometimes, they say, “I put my hands on the patient’s head and said:“He, he, now I will cut your wings, fight, fight bye! " "Who are you?" - he will ask, and in a person it will suddenly buzz. Mother again will say: "Who are you?" - and will hum even more, and then she will pray and say: "Well, the mosquito has fought, now that's enough!" And the man leaves healed."

She strictly pointed out to the visitors that it was necessary to be treated. Our body is a house given by God, it needs to be repaired. God created the world.

- What will happen to us? - Asked her once before the war.

“I feel sorry for you,” Matrona suddenly burst into tears. - Until the last time you are destined to live. They will lay bread and a cross in front of you and tell you: choose. What will you take?

- We will choose the cross, but how can we live without bread?

- Let's pray, take the land, roll it into balls, pray to God again, eat the balls and be full!

She often spoke of unrighteous times.

- What do we do? They asked her. - What we can?

- Be patient, - Matrona answered. - The child is being carried in a sleigh, and he has no worries. The Lord himself will arrange everything in time.

In the most severe times, Matrona had warm words for every suffering person that warmed the soul. During the days of the demonstrations, she asked everyone not to go outside, stay at home and close the windows so as not to let the hordes of demons in the streets. It is appropriate to recall that the holy fathers called human feelings "windows of the soul."

Matrona predicted and prophesied throughout her life. During the war, many asked about the fate of loved ones who were at the front or during the occupation. Matrona told everyone about who was alive and who died. And I have never been wrong.

Matrona died on May 2, 1952.

Here are some attested curious predictions made to her during her lifetime:

“Soon the entire 58th article will be disbanded, there will be no that which was. After the war, they will first remove Stalin, then after him the rulers will be one worse than the other. They will take Russia apart. After the war, comrades will travel abroad, decompose and break their teeth. Some will see that it is good, that it is bad, that continuing to live as before is death. And Michael will appear at that time. He wants to help, change everything, turn it over, but if he knew that he would not change anything. And only pay. Troubles will begin, strife, one party will go to another. There will be such a short time. Take a breath, but small. Everything will be there, and a prayer service on Red Square, and a requiem for the murdered Anointed of God and his family. Then the old ones will come, and it will be worse than it was! Life will get worse and worse."

The last years of Matrona's life were spent at Skhodnya station near Moscow. She found out the time of her death in three days, managed to make all the orders. The priest who confessed her noticed that she was very worried. He asked:

- Are you afraid of death too?

“I'm afraid,” Matrona replied humbly. Before her death, she punished everyone:

- Everybody, everybody come to me and tell me, as if alive, about your sorrows. I will see and hear you and help you.

They buried Matrona at the Danilovskoye cemetery. For a long time, her grave was a place of pilgrimage for many believers and suffering. In 1998, her remains were transferred to the Moscow Pokrovsky Monastery.

The Intercession Monastery in Moscow. On May 2, 1999, a church glorification of the saint of God took place. The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy issued a definition of the canonization of the blessed Matrona of Moscow (Matrona Dmitrievna Nikonova, 1881–1952) in the face of locally revered saints.

Did her predictions come true?
