They say that whoever touches this bronze monument will die very quickly.

The monument is located in the old Auckland cemetery, its history goes back to 1891. Since then, scary stories have been told about this place.

It all started at the beginning of the 20th century. Teresa Dolezal moved with her son to Iowa City. The woman worked as a midwife and raised her baby. Already in 1891, the boy fell ill with meningitis and died. The mother was heartbroken, she buried her baby in the Oakland cemetery.

Due to the grief she experienced, Teresa decided to move to another city. There she fell in love again and got married, but her husband did not live long. After visiting the grave of her son, he fell ill with an illness and soon died. Then the death of a young and healthy man was not associated with this place, but would be worth it.

Tragic events followed the poor thing, one death followed another. In 1913, a woman installed a bronze monument, and placed the ashes of her beloved husband, Eddie, at its foundation. But the mysticism did not end there, but only began.

Soon a series of deaths began in the city, one followed by another. Most often, the victims were young girls. And the statue turned black, people were sure that the devil had possessed it to take the souls of the innocent. Teresa Feldevert died in 1924 and according to the archives, her ashes are in the same grave, there is no evidence of this fact.

Scary stories based on the legends of the Black Angel statue tell of this monument having sinister powers. According to legend, any girl kissed in the shadow of the statue's wings will be buried within six months. And the one who decides to touch the angel will see death within seven years. Today the statue of the Black Angel stands in the cemetery, but many bypass it. The watchmen say that at night she gets off the pedestal and wanders around the churchyard among the graves. It's not worth checking this old legend anyway, who knows what's hiding in the dark?
