Vampires are found not only in fiction books and films. They are, as many think, not a figment of the imagination. Vampires are reality.
Real vampires, unlike those that are found in the movies, are ordinary people: they have no fangs, and they do not sleep in coffins. For example, the warriors of Genghis Khan were vampires. When they ran out of food and water, they drank the blood of their horses and recuperated. Prisoners on the run did the same. Often, contemplating an escape, seasoned convicts looked after a young and inexperienced victim from inmates, persuading her to go on the run with them. Repeat offenders knew that hunger awaited them during the escape and, if something happened, they drank the blood of their victim.

Yure Grando
Jure Grando is an ordinary Croatian Christian who lived in the 17th century. If you believe the legends, then for a decade and a half after his death, he terrorized the local population. Official papers of those times call him "strigon", which is translated from Croatian as vampire.
This is the first time in history that a real person has been called a vampire. The villagers said that Yure wandered near their houses at night, knocking on windows and doors. And sometimes he came to his widow and asked her to have sex with him. The story ended with the fact that the villagers, led by a priest, dug up Yura's grave and cut off the head of the corpse.

The case at Tchaikovsky
In winter, in 1998, a fire broke out in the small Russian town of Tchaikovsky. Rescuers extinguished the flame and found the owner's body in the apartment. He did not burn out or choke on the smoke. He was killed. An aspen stake protruded from the man's chest.
The corpse was watered with sunflower oil. And the aspen stake indicated a ritual murder. It looks like someone mistook the man for a vampire … Or maybe he really was a vampire.
Vampire from Vladivostok
In 1994, a young guy who worked as a traffic police officer disappeared in Vladivostok. The police followed the trail of a woman who met a guy and invited him to visit her. There they drank, and at some point, the woman grabbed a knife. The young policeman did not manage to react in time - he was already drunk. Blood spurted from the wound on the neck, and the lady stuck to the fresh wound.
It turned out that this traffic police officer was not the first victim of the vampire. The woman admitted that she was addicted to the taste of blood as a child, when she cut her hand and tasted her own blood.
Petar Blagozhevich
This man lived in Serbia in the 18th century. According to legends, he did not remain dead after death. Two months after Petar's death, several villagers died of a strange illness. Before his death, the patients said that Petar Blagozhevich came to them in a dream. Petar's son said that he saw his late father in his house, he demanded food - after which the guy died of an unknown disease.
Petar was exhumed. Eyewitnesses said that he breathed in the coffin and his open eyes moved. A stake was stuck in the heart, the corpse was buried. After that, the diseases and dreams of the villagers stopped.
Highgate Vampire
In 1969, in London's Highgate Cemetery, people began to find the bloodless corpses of cats and dogs with characteristic wounds on the neck. Eyewitnesses talked about a strange tall man who walks at night in the cemetery.
Publications in the newspapers led to the fact that vampire hunters became interested in the cemetery, who dug graves to find a tall person. However, no one found the vampire, and the stories were eventually forgotten.
