Often, the ghosts that live in the building come to the aid of its tenants. In the same way, like brownies, ghosts turn into guardians of their home. Such a ghost-watchman lives in one of the old Petersburg houses.

In Soviet times, many students earned their living by working as loaders in a warehouse or vegetable warehouse. These people know how deep a short sleep can be after such employment. Our storyteller was such a student, who did not want to reveal his name. He returned from night duty, lit a gas burner with a kettle, and sat down to recuperate.

A boiling kettle would inevitably burn out, because in such Stalinist houses, soundproof walls are quite good. However, the process was intervened by the ghost of the deceased former owner of the apartment, on whose sofa our unfortunate student was now sleeping. The tired student jumped up from the couch in an instant because an unfamiliar male voice shouted loudly above his head: "Get up, the kettle is boiling!" Throwing a lit hob without supervision is a danger. Therefore, the guardian ghost not only made sure that our narrator would not be left without tea, but also saved the house from a possible fire.

As you know, even the most cruel ghosts do not remain indifferent to children's destinies. For mermaids, a favorite pastime is taking the reckless man to the bottom of the sea. However, they spare the kids who have suddenly fallen into the water and pull them out of the water. Or perhaps they simply cannot touch those whose hour has not yet struck? We do not yet know the answer to this question, but one of the aquatic creatures helped a resident of Novosibirsk, while she was a little girl.

Walking home across the floating bridge, a seven-year-old child fell into the river. The baby did not know how to swim, and therefore, without resistance, the girl sank to the river bottom. Suddenly, someone's caring hands supported her by the shoulders and with an effort pushed her up. Fortunately, at this time a young woman was passing by with her daughter, they saw a girl floundering in the water. The woman threw herself into the water and pulled the child ashore.
