A farmer who owns a piece of land in Michigan and grows soybeans in the field discovered the remains of a woolly mammoth buried under a layer of soil. Paleontologists examining the remains of the animal and the burial site are sure that the mammoth was placed by the ancient inhabitants of Michigan in a kind of primitive refrigerator about 10,000 years ago.

Farmer James Bristle discovered the mammoth by accident - he was making hedges, digging holes in his yard, and discovered something that turned out to be a huge rib. The farmer immediately turned to Michigan scientists, who excavated further. According to Daniel Fisher, head of the excavation, mammoths lived in the region 15,000-11,700 years ago. And the age of the mammoth, the remains of which were discovered by the farmer, was about 40 years old.

A skull, tusks, a pelvis, a spine, portions of a scapula and one patella were found in the soil. Everything else, according to scientists, was either buried in another place, or eaten by ancient people, who killed this mammoth.

Dr. Fisher believes that the ancient inhabitants of Michigan preserved uneaten parts of the mammoth in the pond. Fragments of a stone tool and three large boulders, possibly used as anchors, were found near the skeleton. Further investigation of the place of discovery may provide more information about the life and diet of ancient people who inhabited this region thousands of years ago.
