The afterlife has been of great interest to humans for many centuries. Naturally, you want to know how life is arranged in the Kingdom of the Dead, what awaits a person after death?
In some way, if you trust it, impressive answers can be received from people who have experienced near-death conditions.
True, now we are not talking about a short trip to the land of universal love and friendship. We will touch upon the mystery of the dark cellars of Hell.
The meeting of evil monsters, demons of the other world, is a common feature of many hellish near-death experiences. For example, in 1981, Veronica Bartel, met a similar living creature experiencing a near-death condition. The woman was struck by lightning in the car, as a result of which Veronica crossed the line of life and death.
Near Death Visions
Fainted from a lightning strike, Bartel woke up surrounded by terrible monsters. The growling demons were dragging her roughly somewhere. With horror, Veronica watched as the monsters stabbed people with spears, pushing them into the dark caverns. Near her feet, masses of huge snakes writhed, completely covering the ground. Bartel described the eerie scene with the words:
A similar account of the visit to the "afterlife" is brought by Bill Wiese, who described her stay in a cell with reptiles and monstrous animals. The animals rushed at Bill, scratched and bit the body, struck blow after blow. Throughout this ridiculous scene, there was a cacophony of eerie screams that penetrated even through the walls. “I think people were tortured in the same way in the neighboring cells,” says Wiese.

Exactly 23 minutes, the poor fellow was in an unknown reality saturated with pain and fear. A strange vision inspired Wiese to write a book with the characteristic title "23 Minutes in Hell". A similar "life after death" phenomenon was acquired by London art historian Evelyn Hazel when, after reaching the critical stage of meningitis, she found herself in a dark pit, single-handedly fighting a ferocious three-legged beast.
Suicides: life after death
Not all versions of near-death experiences include evil demonic beings. In January 1991, Angie Fenimora tried to commit suicide. First, the so-called "review of life" passed before her eyes. In most cases (but not always), this is a common feature of near-death visions: a person's life flashes before his eyes at an alarming speed.
After a quick demonstration of her life, the woman found herself surrounded by a huge sea of darkness, where she was still able to make out a group of young people frozen in heavy darkness. Coming closer to the silent group (Angie claims she was able to talk to them), she found out that they were suicides.
Angie barely managed to get an answer from sullen people, lethargic and apparently uninterested in communicating with each other. Continuing on her way into the open field, the failed suicide saw many aimlessly wandering people stuck in some kind of semi-conscious stupor.
Obviously, Fenimora realized, these are damned souls, so caught up in their own anguish that they lack the ability and will to turn to others for communication. From somewhere there is an understanding, who got here are doomed to exist devastated eternity.
Life after death: leaving the soul out of the body
Although many near-death visions are usually reported by highly religious people, this is not always true. For example, in 2005, Professor Howard Storm, an atheist throughout his life, made an incredible journey into the kingdom of the dead.
It so happened that the professor needed immediate stomach surgery. At some moment of preparation, he felt his consciousness slipping away from him. The man even said goodbye to his wife. The professor's consciousness set off to drift into oblivion, from where he slipped out realizing himself standing next to his lifeless body!
The pain in his stomach disappeared, and Howard stared in confusion at his own body and the bustle of the doctors. Attempts to call his wife failed, the wife did not even notice her husband.
Before the man was able to adapt to the unthinkable of seeing his own body in a hospital bed, he was struck by strange voices addressing him with the words: Come with us. We were expecting you … let's go.
Looking around, Storm saw the source of the voice emanating from a group of ghostly, fuzzy figures that had gathered at the door of the hospital room. In a daze, Howard followed them as he was asked. Leaving the room, they entered a dark, dense fog leading into a tunnel.
For the first minutes, everything was quite friendly, the professor calmly and with interest moved down the foggy tunnel to the encouraging words of the ghosts. However, sinking deeper and deeper into the bottomlessness of darkness, where darkness was perceptibly thickening, the tone of the ghostly companions began to change to an ominous manner of address. Gradually, the behavior of the escorts became more and more aggressive, they were already pushing the man to the bottom of the tunnel, forcing him to go faster.
Finally, the unpleasant jabs turned into cruel, even the voices of the ghosts "became more guttural and demanding, they scolded, carrying vicious insults and contempt." More and more frightened by what was happening, Storm announced his desire to return. The unpretentious request drove the ghostly guides into wild rage. The ghosts began to attack the man in earnest, accompanying the blows with vicious curses. Later, the professor said about the meeting:
Despite the atheism that fell under the relentless attack, Storm began to pray desperately, which made the creatures even angrier and caused cries of rage: There is no God!
However, the man prayed, calling God for help over and over again. He was lying on the ground in a torn lump of pain when events apparently reached a climax: suddenly the attacks stopped, time seemed to stop, and some force "threw" him into his own body. Howard Storm was greatly shaken by the incredible experience when he described the event in the book My Descent into Death.
Secrets of the afterlife
Perhaps the most terrifying and bizarre aspect of negative experiences of near death is that visions do not always follow the rules we define. After all, if Hell really exists in the “afterlife”, then we can assume that people who have committed terrible deeds are sent to the devil's cellars. But in many cases, the person did not do anything terrifying to go through the brutal torment.
There are other strange features of "life after death". Devout people are more likely to believe in the bright side of the afterlife. Although it is not always important whether a person is religious or not when it comes to visions before death. Even for those who are religious, the experience can be vastly different from what they believed in their lifetime regarding the afterlife.
And yet, drawing a parallel between the light and dark area (heaven or hell), it can be noted: Positive near-death experiences represent the sequence of the soul's exit from the body, reviews of life, and the ascent to some kind of warm light. While negative NDE is a movement towards darkness, devastation, eternal pain and suffering, regardless of culture and faith.
