Clinical death - a kind of transitional state between life and death - begins from the moment the activity of the central nervous system, blood circulation and respiration ceases and continues for a short period of time until irreversible changes develop in the brain. From the moment of their occurrence, death is regarded as biological

Thus, the main characteristic of clinical death is the possible reversibility of this condition.

“At the age of 12,” says Gulya, “during the next attack I felt really bad. And then a strange thing happened. The pain receded. It felt so good and easy, I did not feel my body at all. And for some reason I looked at everything that was happening on the operating table from somewhere above. Doctors took turns giving me cardiac stimulation and injections. But for some reason I didn't feel anything - I felt very good. Suddenly the doctor shouted: “Gulya! Can you hear me?"

I calmly replied that everything was in order. But she didn't hear. And she began to scream even louder and give injections. Then I shouted from my height: “Doctors! Why are you sticking to me! Nothing hurts me! " And they did not hear. Then I failed somewhere. And when I woke up, my whole body ached from the injections. Later I found out that I had suffered clinical death. First!"

68 deaths and one life

Gulya Akzamova was born in an urban-type settlement near Nizhny Tagil. She was very weak, any draft - a cough is guaranteed. The girl was not shown to the doctor in time, and when her mother caught herself, Guli already had bronchial asthma. Every year the disease progressed, the girl spent several months in hospitals. Sometimes I had to lie under a dropper for six months.

A year later, Guli's condition worsened. She practically never left the hospital. Sometimes the most experienced doctors simply lost heart - everyone thought that the girl would not survive.

“The second time it happened at the age of 13. At first it was very dark, and then I felt like I was flying along a large wide pipe. It seemed like it was going on for a very long time. It was dark in the chimney, occasionally there were gaps, and I saw that the walls were painted light gray. I was not cold at all - a very pleasant warm wind was blowing in my face. I was delighted and thought: "Can I really fly?" It seemed to me that my adventure lasted about an hour. And then everything was like the first time. I fell into darkness and woke up in pain. A doctor sat next to me and held my hand. Seeing that I opened my eyes, she smiled and for some reason congratulated me on my birthday …"

For the third time, Gulya died a year later. She again "flew" around the operating room and watched the doctors with interest. This time she didn't even try to talk to them. She remembered that it was useless and the uncles in white coats would not hear her.

Gulya now lives in Maina, Ulyanovsk region. “I felt much better here,” she says. - In Nizhny Tagil, for all the time I have never seen a blue sky over our village, it was always gray-brown-crimson. And here the air is clean, I even began to lie in the hospital less often”…

Ukrainian Yuriy Fedaka was "lucky" even more: in 14 days he died of a heart attack 68 times and came to his senses all the time! It got to the point that he began to feel the symptoms of death and managed to call resuscitators for help.

Now this miracle man lives a full life, works, has learned not to be nervous. And emotionally shares with people pictures of otherworldly reality.

The hardest and longest - more than four minutes - was his first cardiac arrest. He says that then it was as if he was transported to another world.

“I saw as if I had come out of some tunnel onto the lawn. The grass is so bright green and the sides are flowers like daffodils. And the pigeons flew. And as soon as I looked at the hill - that's it, the picture is over, "says Yuri."

Doctors cannot explain the reason for such visions, and returning to life after death almost 70 times in a row is not considered an achievement. On the contrary, they say that they did not manage to find the necessary treatment in time.

Yuri Fedaka himself believes that he was born in a shirt. Now the former driver works as a security guard and enjoys every minute of his life. Smoke less, does not lift heavy. After numerous deaths, his memory deteriorated, but his eyesight improved!

What's on the other side?

Despite all the achievements of modern science, death, like thousands of years ago, remains one of the greatest mysteries for people.

Countless proposals have been made regarding what exactly happens to a person at the moment of his transition into nothingness, but scientists still cannot give a clear answer.

As a rule, a person is in the zone between life and death for 5-10 minutes, and only then irreversible changes occur in the brain. Those who manage to return from the afterlife often talk about the strong experiences they experienced during their dying.

Most often, you can hear about a vision of a tunnel with a dazzling light at the end of it. Patients also talk about the feeling of peace, peace and harmony, the journey to another dimension and communication with deceased relatives.

This phenomenon has been known for a long time, but experts cannot come to a common opinion as to whether we are talking about a genuine experience of some otherworldly reality, or all this is just a product of an agonizing consciousness.

"This phenomenon is more common than commonly thought," says American neuroscientist Kevin Nelson of the University of Kentucky.

Nelson began to study this phenomenon after reading about how some patients experienced numbness in the arms and legs during the "posthumous experience". He was well aware that many people experience similar sensations before falling asleep or upon waking up. “It kind of dawned on me,” says the researcher.

Through the database of the Washington Institute of Clinical Death, Nelson found and interviewed 55 people who reported to doctors about "posthumous experiences" they experienced as a result of any dangerous injury, such as a car accident or heart surgery. For the purity of the experiment, he interviewed the same number of people who had never experienced anything like this.

It turned out that 60% of those who managed to look into the other world and return, at least once in their lives, fell into a state in which they did not know what was a dream and what was real. In the control group, such cases were found much less - only 24%.

It is known that the confusion in a person's consciousness of sleep and reality is often caused by sleep paralysis - a special condition in which a person loses the ability to move for a while and may experience visual and auditory hallucinations, unable to distinguish them from reality. Scientists have found that this is because some of the physiological phenomena characteristic of the phase of REM sleep occur during wakefulness. In this case, the muscles lose their tone, and a person sees bright flashes of light and terrible creatures.

REM sleep is associated with the activity of the brain stem - the lower part of the brain located between the spinal cord and the forebrain hemispheres. “Paradoxically, it is this evolutionarily oldest part of the brain that can generate experiences that, from the point of view of many, are the quintessence of the human,” says Nelson.

The neurophysiologist does not exclude the possibility that psychological and spiritual factors may also play a role, and hopes to continue studying the mysteries of the near-death state by interviewing people who have experienced the experience of leaving the physical body without any trauma.

Meanwhile, Swiss neuroscientists accidentally discovered that stimulation of a specific part of the human brain creates a feeling of remoteness of consciousness from the body. The soul, as it were, soars and looks at itself from above. It is about this kind of experience that the memory remains after the exit from the state of clinical death.

The discovery came when staff at a clinic at the University of Geneva performed routine examinations of a woman with epilepsy. It was possible to determine that the source of such sensations is one of the convolutions in the right side of the cerebral cortex.

This gyrus is responsible for collecting information from different parts of the brain and forming a general idea of the position of the body in space. When the signals of several nerves go astray, the brain begins to give out a distorted picture, as a result of which a person perceives what is happening to him as if from the outside.

So far, similar experiments have been conducted with only one patient, but in the future the Swiss intend to investigate similar reactions in other patients.
