In the summer of 1991, the circles that appeared in the cereal fields of England gained unprecedented popularity. The newspapers were filled with masses of photographs depicting these strange prints in a variety of forms. An enchanted audience flooded into Wiltshire, which has become a favorite destination for these neoplasms. It got to the point that farmers charged a fee to visit their fields, where mysterious circles adorned.
Versions
Wanting to give these phenomena a certain scientific objectivity, scientists began to show attention to them. The most notable figure among them was the English meteorologist Terence Meaden, who suggested that atmospheric plasma vortices should be considered the culprits of the events taking place in the fields! To confirm his guess, Meden set up an observation post on one of the nearby hills. The Japanese agreed to be on duty using modern observation equipment. However, they failed to obtain a significant result.
Meanwhile, over time, the noticed prints in the margins gradually changed - from simple circles to complex geometric constructions (with rectilinear elements), called pictograms by ufologists. Moreover, more and more prints began to acquire outlines that leave no doubt about their artificial origin!
Again about fakes?
On July 17, 1991, intricate prints were seen off Iron Age Hill, otherwise known as Barbary Castle. The resulting cryptograms could not have been created by plasma vortices in any way! We must pay tribute to Terence Meeden, who publicly admitted this unpleasant fact for him. And he had no choice but to declare the newly appeared prints to be fakes. However, well-known UK crop circle "authors" Doug and Dave, who had become proficient in their strange craft, told the Today correspondent that they could not create such unusual prints.

Strange message
In early August 1991, in a wheat field near Milk Hill, near Elton Varne, unprecedented prints appeared in the fields. They were square images of some letters, at least three words following each other! The English Crop Circle Journal has announced a £ 100 prize for transcribing the message.
The local ufologist John Martineau also noticed these strange prints and characterized them as runes (signs denoting the letters of the ancient secret alphabet). Usually they, being symbols of specific letters, look like squares with one side removed. Since John Martineau reported them, he was declared the author of the message. And yet ufologists rushed to decipher the runes, but did not succeed in this.
The most interesting result was obtained by the author of the book "Deciphering Stonehenge", Professor Gerald Hawkins. In his opinion, the phrase encoded in the cryptogram means, roughly translated from Latin: “I resist outside pressure - (“?). To be completely clear, Hawkins says it is necessary to decide whether to read the phrase from left to right or from right to left. He himself preferred to read this phrase from right to left.
The language of the Atlanteans?
This version was proposed by the chairman of the British Center for the Study of Crop Circles Michael Green. In his opinion, the encrypted phrase translated from the language of the Atlanteans, which he supposedly mastered, means: "The Creator is wise and loving." Michael Green, by the way, decided that the circles that delimit the message on both sides are not letters. Other cryptographers have deciphered the phrase as "The Order of the Essenes" (the Essenes are members of the Essenes sect in Judea).
Several years ago in Wiltshire there was a meeting of craftsmen specializing in making crop circles. One of the participants in the meeting unwittingly overheard the conversation of his colleagues, from which it followed that it was these people who, in July 1991, were honored to depict square prints on the field near Barbary Castle Hill! Wanting to add credibility to what they had done, these jokers deciphered the inscription as follows: "Meden is talking nonsense!" As you can see, this time the joke was a success, since Terence Meeden really talked about “intelligence - atmospheric plasma vortices. More dense nonsense is probably difficult to imagine!
Cunning trick
As can be seen from the photograph of the square prints, the forgers applied the letters in such a way that the upper half disappeared from them, which disappeared under the wheels of a tractor passing here. The meaning of the trick is clear: the jokers had to make it difficult to decipher the message! in which they succeeded.
An interesting fact: the American "hunter of miracles - Eric Bekjord a week earlier discovered a message a few kilometers from Barbary Castle Hill, addressed to aliens or some other carriers of the mind!" Bekjord interpreted the Milk Hill prints discussed above as a response from the addressee to an earlier appeal to him. The answer was: "Finally, talk to us!"
For some reason, this phrase was written in Korean! However, further things went into a mess. One of the local farmers, who had this phrase on the wheat field, was afraid of the invasion of crowds of curious fellow citizens and destroyed the inscription!
SMS from space
As the head of the Russian scientific association "Cosmopoisk" Vadim Chernobrov said, Russian scientists "were the first in the world to understand that crop circles in different countries of the world appear according to a certain system." They appear every year in the summer along the line from Zaporozhye to Armavir, in July - in a straight line from Kursk to Kamyshin, in August - from Vitebsk to Perm. “If we draw our globe according to the points of the circles or icons,” says Chernobrov, “you can count 24 lines.
It is suggested that the lines are a kind of landmarks aimed at by extraterrestrial civilizations, wishing to declare themselves with the help of imprints created on Earth."
Members of the "Cosmopoisk" association observed a strange glow in the direction of Armavir. About five minutes before the glow, dogs in the neighborhood began to bark desperately! Then everything calmed down and glowing balls appeared over the field, leaving pictograms on the field. One of them, consisting of 9 circles, several lines and rings, was photographed by a local resident Regina Mitrokhin.
Another message was seen in the Crimean region. It consisted of three ovals, resembling, according to the impression of eyewitnesses, a propeller!
Russians expose fakes
According to the head of "Cosmopoisk" Vadim Chernobrov, Russian ufologists distinguish about a dozen signs that are characteristic only of real circles. For example, if cereal spikes are pressed to the ground to forge circles (suppose to trample a circle), then the stems will certainly straighten. And if you overdo it in trampling, then they just break. In real circles, the stems are stacked so neatly that they give the impression of plasticine! In 2005, "Cosmopoisk - surveyed circles in the sunflower field. So, the stems of sunflowers two or three fingers thick were neatly twisted to one side, but not broken! Various worm beetles and grasshoppers run away from real circles. Even birds, flying up to the circles, turn aside, as if bumping into an invisible barrier!
As for the meaning of crop circles, there are two versions of this. The first interprets them as messages to humanity, testing the human race on the level of intelligence. The second version interprets the circles as messages addressed, alas, not to us. But who is a big question …
