There is one aspect of reality that we are used to taking as a natural state of affairs - the object exists independently of the observer. However, theoretical physicists and researchers in the field of quantum physics have been discussing the likelihood of the existence of a multiverse for many years, an interpretation of reality according to which the universe branches out every time a situation or phenomenon evolves into two or more scenarios.
In essence, this means that we live in only one branch of a complex multiverse, which leads to an almost infinite number of versions of each of us - but in each parallel universe we made different decisions and followed a different path.
California Institute of Technology physicist Sean Carroll described this problem in his new book, Something Deeply Hidden, and during a conversation with NBC, explained his position on the issue of parallel universes. He believes that the hypothesis of multiple worlds really has a chance to exist.
The scientist does not know exactly how many realities are possible - whether their number is infinite, or of course, but if they are present, then their number must be incredibly huge.
The scientist clarified the metaphysical view of the universe, in which reality exists depending on the observer:
It is worth remembering that Carroll is far from the first explorer to consider a multiple universe. Stephen Hawking noted in his work that the Big Bang created infinite universes for us, and not the only one that we experience with you.
As for visiting parallel universes - topics that are considered by both scientists and popular culture in films, books and games, Carroll does not count on such an opportunity. According to him, parallel universes do not interact with each other in any way. The transition from one universe to another will be comparable to overcoming the speed of light. However, who knows what humanity will achieve as it develops.
