There is no prophet in history more famous than the French astrologer and clairvoyant Michel Nostradamus. Many of his predictions come true to this day, including those concerning Russia. However, it is still not known for certain where Nostradamus got information about the future. Some even believe that he managed to build … a time machine.
Michel Notrdam (that was the real name of Nostradamus) was born in the French town of Saint-Remy on December 14, 1503 in the family of a notary. Both of his grandfathers were doctors. Even in adolescence, Michel began to study medicine, the healing properties of herbs, and then astrology. At the age of 14 he was sent to Avignon, where he studied mathematics, astronomy, and the humanities. The young man completed his education at the University of Montpellier, where he received a bachelor's degree in medicine.
Starting medical practice, he changed his French surname to Latin - Nostradamus. The young doctor first of all directed his steps to Bordeaux, where the plague epidemic was raging. Giving the patients his own hand-made drugs, Nostradamus made sure that the patients began to recover.
Four years later, Michel returned to Montpellier to defend his doctoral dissertation. He was offered to head the professorship, and he accepted this offer. However, three years later, at the invitation of his friend, the famous scientist and philosopher Jules Cesar Scaliger, he moved to the city of Ajan, where at the age of 30 he finally got married. But in 1544, his wife and children, ironically, were carried away by the same plague.
In subsequent years, Nostradamus was engaged in medical practice. He lived in Marseille, then moved to Aix. However, he gradually moved away from medicine and took up cosmetology, which then brought large incomes. Having settled in the small town of Salon de Cros, he married a second time, to a wealthy widow, Annie Pozar Gemel.
Until now, no one can say with certainty how the great seer managed to know the future. It was rumored that he kept a "mirror" machine at home, in which pictures of the future appeared. Whether Nostradamus himself built it or received it from someone remains a mystery. And did it even exist? Although the use of magic crystals for divination in the Middle Ages was already quite common. But perhaps the "mirror" machine is just a legend, because Nostradamus possessed remarkable astrological knowledge and, most likely, the ability to foresee.
The first three sets of predictions of Nostradamus - Centurias - were published in 1555 in Lyon. Later, the remaining volumes were published - from the fifth to the seventh. They predicted the most important world events up to the seventh millennium.
The most famous of the predictions of Nostradamus, which came true during his lifetime, is the death of King Henry II at the tournament and the death of his three sons. He told Catherine de Medici that all three of her sons would become kings. Francis II and Charles IX died under dubious circumstances, and Henry II was killed …

He foresaw Nostradamus and his own death at the age of 63. When the day before his secretary Chavigny said goodbye to him: "Until tomorrow", the owner quietly replied: "You will not see me alive at sunrise." The next morning the secretary found him dead.
According to interpreters, the "Centuries" also contain prophecies about our time, including about the First and Second World Wars, about the revolution in Russia, about the emergence of such dictators as Stalin, Hitler and Saddam Hussein, and even about perestroika and the end of socialism …
Generally accepted interpretations of the predictions of Nostradamus include a mandatory reference to time and place. The dates of events are determined by the ordinal number of the century and quatrain, or by direct instructions in the text. Spatial coordinates are also based on texts.
As a rule, the content of the quatrains is taken literally by the interpreters. Nevertheless, many researchers tend to believe that, firstly, the translation of the prophecies of Nostradamus into Russian is very, very imperfect, and secondly, most of them are very vague and can be interpreted differently.
Thus, the medieval court astrologer was probably more accustomed to operating with the realities of that era that surrounded him - French and Italian geographical names, monarchical symbols, astrological signs and other well-known concepts. Trying to interpret the centuries of Nostradamus, most researchers agree that some of them predicted some kind of global cataclysm, more simply - the end of the world. With what will it be connected? With the outbreak of World War III? With an ecological or space disaster?
