The truth is, in theory, traveling to the future is actually much easier than traveling to the past. Why? Partly because we are now literally moving forward in time.

The idea of the possibility of time travel originates from Albert Einstein's special theory of relativity, which, in simple terms, describes the relationship between space and time. The difference in the speed of the clock or the movement of time can be explained by two factors: gravity and the relativistic effect. The latter consists in the fact that in a moving body all physical processes proceed more slowly than it should for a stationary body according to the time counts of a stationary (laboratory) frame of reference. That is, for different observers in different places and conditions, time can flow in different ways.

Interestingly, the theory of time travel is partly supported by a (rather strange) fact: the clocks installed on the spacecraft (whether it be an internal GPS clock or an atomic clock brought into space for experimental purposes) runs slower than a reference clock on Earth. In this respect, astronauts and astronauts on long missions can be considered time travelers, since time flows faster for them in space than for those on Earth at that moment. On average, this difference is about 38,700 ns / day.

From a practical point of view, the relativistic time dilation effect is more attractive. What's the use?

Thus, in theory, if we have propulsion systems that allow us to travel at speeds close to the speed of light, we can "skip" entire centuries. But with this method we will not be able to travel back in time.
