Rumors about chupacabra have been discussed for several years in many regions of Ukraine. Following other cities and villages, the mysterious beast reached Lutsk. In the private sector of the regional center, on the streets of Doroshenko and Sagaidachny, he attacked rabbits and chickens, and some local residents found unusual traces in their gardens. People also note with surprise that the living creatures that survived the night visits of an uninvited guest behave very strangely: they refuse food and walk staggering like a drunk …
The creature tore through the thick sheet on the roof of the cage and got to the rabbits
“This nightmare began on the night of Thursday to Friday,” says Valentina Nazarevich, who lives on Doroshenko Street. - With the onset of darkness, the dogs raised their barks, and for no apparent reason. From time to time, the barking turned into a drawn-out howl. These eerie howls continued throughout the night. At about five in the morning, the barking became especially loud. When I woke up, I opened the window and shouted at our dog. At that moment, about two meters away from me, the silhouette of some creature flashed. In the dark, I could not see it, only noticed that it was no more than an average dog in height.
Soon the barking began to subside. I closed the window and went back to bed. She did not bother with bad thoughts. Logic dictated that either a neighbor or a stray dog had run into our yard. But I didn't get enough sleep. Somewhere at half past six in the morning a rooster crowed near the house. I was surprised, because at this time he was supposed to be in a locked aviary. I decided to go outside and see what was happening there. As soon as she opened the door, our dog literally flew into the hallway - he broke off the leash. Another surprise awaited me in the yard: the chicken coop was open. Neither I nor my mother go out to the hens so early. Coming closer, I could not believe my eyes - dead chickens were lying around. Six in the aviary, two more in the garden. To be honest, I was confused. She picked up one chicken and examined it. The carcass was practically intact.
There were clear footprints on the ground near the cage, reminiscent of the footprints of a large dog. The tracks were deep. This meant that the creature that left them was much heavier than even the largest dog. The thought of the Chupacabra, which has been talked about so much in recent years, immediately flashed through my head. I began to examine the cage, and my, at first glance, fantastic assumption was confirmed. We lock the doors to the chicken coop with a latch and support it with a meter-long metal corner for reliability. The one who opened them first removed the latch, and then … set aside the corner, leaning it against the net. Could the dog have done that? Definitely not. But that is not all. Examining the carcasses, I found two symmetrically located bruises on them just below the head, and one small scratch on the breast.
I photographed the strangled chickens and footprints with my mobile phone, and then went to the neighbors. I decided to find out if something strange was happening to them. It turned out that the beast had missed a few more courtyards on our street and on the neighboring one, Sagaidachny. At one of the neighbors, getting to the rabbits, he ripped open a thick sheet of metal that covered the roof of the cage. In one night, pensioner Nina Semenyuk strangled eight chickens in one night, she also had huge animal footprints in her garden. Her son-in-law set traps all over the yard. Do not sleep at night, trying to lie in wait for an uninvited guest, and other neighbors. So far, their efforts have been unsuccessful.
In order not to let this matter take its course, I turned to the authorities for help. I called the police. The officer on duty did not take seriously what I told him, and advised me to contact the city council. They said to call the emergency department. The rescuers politely explained that in this situation they could not help us. Finally I got through to one of the local TV companies. The film crew immediately rushed over. In the evening, the incident was reported in a news release.
But our troubles did not end there. The next morning I discovered that from the carefully locked chicken coop … the cock was missing - the only one that had survived the previous night. The door was thrown open, just like the last time. Then we decided to conduct an experiment. The carcass of the rooster was not buried, but placed in a cage. The door was locked. Thus, using the decoy, they hoped to track down the alien. But he did not appear again. Obviously, he doesn't care about the dead bird.

On the same day, at the request of a television correspondent, a representative of the state veterinary service visited us. The doctor was not interested in details. After a quick examination of the dead rooster, the veterinarian concluded that the dog had strangled him. That was the end of the expert's visit. As a result, we were left alone with our problems.
By the way, the other day a relative from the Rivne region visited us. He said that they also had someone strangling rabbits. And people still lay in wait and shot the mutant. They say he looks like a dog crossed with a fox and a jackal.
After killing the chicken, the one who did it left the pen, locking the door behind him with a latch
Not all the affected residents of Lutsk believe in the appearance of the Chupacabra in the city. Pensioner Valentina Gumenyuk is convinced that ordinary dogs attack animals.
“Early last Friday morning, my husband went to check the rabbit cages,” the woman says. - And I saw blood on the ground. He told about this to a neighbor who was doing housework in her yard. She, in turn, said that she found four dead chickens near the chicken coop. The carcasses were stacked in a neat pile. Our other neighbors also suffered from the tricks of the unknown beast.
Of course, we sounded the alarm. Established a round-the-clock watch. The next night, my husband heard a strange noise in the yard. Running out, I noticed two dogs in the light of a street lamp. One is large, with short red hair, the other is smaller, black and without a tail. He did not have time to get a good look at them, as the dogs, seeing the man, jumped over the fence and disappeared into the darkness. Most likely, these were hunting dogs, for some reason, became stray, because they are trained to strangle living creatures and put them in a row without leaving damage on the carcasses. In general, the neighbors say everything. Someone claims that we have a chupacabra. But I think that various monsters and monsters are nothing more than a figment of the imagination of frightened people.
Yaroslav Omelkovets, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Zoology, Volyn National University named after Lesya Ukrainka, also believes that rumors about the Chupacabra are clearly exaggerated.
- Unknown species of animals, of course, exist, - said the scientist, - but we are unlikely to deal with mutants and other monsters. Most likely, the stories about the mysterious vampire are a figment of the human imagination, based on numerous sensational newspaper publications and TV shows. It is possible that the Chupacabra is an exotic animal that escaped from a private zoo, which none of the local residents has any idea about. And wild dogs sometimes look quite creepy: shaggy, with shabby hair, long tail, elongated muzzle. Isn't it a monster from the other world?
But pensioner Vasily Shlikhta is sure that the animal cannot behave this way:
- It was on the night from Friday to Saturday at about two hours and twenty minutes. My daughter heard a strange noise behind the house: someone was running, chickens cackling. She told me about it. I hurried into the yard. Several strangled hens lay on the ground. I went into the chicken coop and could not believe my eyes: not a single bird of fifteen remained there. He turned on the street lights, grabbed a flashlight and went in search. I counted six dead birds. They were still warm. The rest were also found. All in fear fled to different ends of the yard and hid in secluded places.
Another very strange fact, which I have not found a logical explanation. We have built a small enclosure near the chicken coop, something like an aviary. The doors to it are always securely locked. The hole connecting the aviary with the chicken coop is also closed at night. A metal mesh is stretched from all sides and on top of the pen - it is intact, I checked. In the aviary there are boxes where chickens rush. Under one of them I found a strangled bird … How did the carcass get there? Logically, someone entered the enclosure and strangled a chicken. To do this, he had to open a latch-locked door. This can only be done by a person, but not by a dog or other animal. Having killed the chicken, the creature left it under the box and left the pen, locking the door behind it with a latch. Some kind of mysticism. An animal is not capable of this. Is this the work of a man? But what's the point of someone doing something like that? The same, say, a thief would take the prey with him or, if he was frightened away, he would hide, leaving it in the middle of the yard. And it certainly would not have occurred to him to lock the aviary.
Also, this is what surprises me. The remaining chickens refuse to feed and hardly move or walk staggering, as if drunk. What is the reason for this behavior is not clear.
The unusual condition of chickens is commented on by a specialist at a private veterinary clinic, Alexander Starikov:
- In this case, I can only assume, since no one took tests from chickens, no studies were carried out. Most likely, this is a consequence of some kind of infection. Or another pathology manifested itself, possibly complicated by an acute vitamin deficiency. It is possible that the disease developed in a latent form - until stress provoked an exacerbation.

According to local residents, mysterious events took place in Lutsk before. In early November, an unknown predator has already attacked domestic animals. Roman Zaichuk, who lives on Doroshenko Street, claims that two months ago he saw a four-legged beast that did not resemble any terrestrial animal.
“I work as a security guard in a private company,” the man says. - During the next shift around the beginning of the first night near the garage I noticed an unusual beast. The lantern shone brightly enough, I don't complain about my eyesight, so I examined it well. It was about the size of a dog. The skin is like a pig's, but dogs don't have that. But the most amazing thing is that the animal was moving in huge, ten meters long, jumping - like a kangaroo, only on four legs. Having run past the garage, the creature disappeared into the darkness …
For the first time they started talking about the chupacabra in 1992, then it was allegedly seen in Puerto Rico. According to one of the versions widespread in those years, the mutant escaped from a secret US military base, where genetic experiments were carried out. The rabbit strangler first appeared in Ukraine in December 2002. "FACTS" told in detail how in the Ternopil region a shaggy monster made its way into the courtyards at night, destroyed cells, dealt with animals, leaving no marks on the carcasses, and threw them right there near the house. That is, almost the same thing happened as in the cases described above.
The rector of one of the Lutsk Orthodox cathedrals, Archpriest Father Vladimir, is convinced that there is no need to be afraid of these mysterious animals. Commenting on the mysterious phenomena taking place in Ukraine, the priest noted:
- A lot of miracles happen in the world, but not always a person explains them correctly. There are things that should remind people: there is a material and spiritual world, and sometimes they are in contact with each other. There is no need to be afraid of these phenomena. They are withdrawn by the power of the Life-giving Cross, repentance and prayer, reading the Word of God, and other means that the church possesses. And then you can sleep peacefully.
