In India, for several years now, an unknown predator has been attacking sheep or goats, and its behavior does not fall under any local animal.
More often than not, the predator simply kills the sheep and does not eat them. Sometimes he drinks blood and removes or eats internal organs. At the same time, no prints of traces of this predator are found next to the sheep.
In the most recent incident in early August 2018 in the village of Tamanad in Ganjam district, Orissa state, ten sheep were found dead.
Some of the animals were found in the barn where they were kept, and some in the middle of a rural street, as if a predator had dragged them out of the barn and were not afraid of meeting a person at all.
All sheep carcasses were intact, but intestines were ripped out of each and either eaten on the spot or carried away.
The first incident involved farmer Nira Nyack's sheep. He tied her up for the night in the pen, and in the morning he found her dead with traces of scratches on her neck. In the following nights, similar incidents were repeated with sheep from other farmers, causing widespread panic.
Farmers have called to officials to catch and kill the mysterious predator. But so far it is not even clear who did this, and various ominous rumors circulate among people. The sheep carcasses were sent for research.
The previous mysterious murder of sheep in India happened in July 2018 in the same state of Orissa.
