A plot of abnormally warm land appeared in the garden of one of the residents of the village of Asanovo, Cherdaklinsky district, Ulyanovsk region
According to the press secretary, at the beginning of winter, the residents of the house discovered that the snow on a small plot of the garden does not lie, but melts even in severe frosts. And if you dig a hole in the ground, then steam comes out from there. The site owner is already making plans to use the suddenly appeared "greenhouse".
“All this aroused great interest of fellow villagers and specialists: journalists, local residents, the sanitary and epidemiological station, the Ministry of Emergencies visited this garden,” Kalmykova said.
On Thursday, the anomalous zone was visited by employees of the ministry together with specialists from the Federal State Institution Center for Laboratory Analysis and Technical Measurements in the Volga Federal District and geologists from the Simbirsk exploration expedition.
According to the ministry, as a result of a preliminary survey of the anomalous zone and sampling, an increase in soil temperature at a depth of 40-50 centimeters to plus 35-40 degrees Celsius was noted, on the soil surface - above zero degrees. At the same time, the air temperature was minus seven degrees. On a plot of about 50 square meters, the soil is moist, loose, easily pierced with a pole to a depth of one meter, steam is released from the dug holes.
“The geologists who investigated the site assume that this is peat smoldering. Such phenomena occur in nature, although it is encountered for the first time in the Ulyanovsk region, she added.
According to experts, under the influence of physical factors: temperature, ambient humidity, a chemical reaction took place, followed by ignition in a peat deposit, which is located at a depth of about three to four meters.
“While digging the soil, we came across live earthworms. This may indicate the absence of any harmful factors. But, just in case, we have taken samples for toxicity, the result will be ready next week,”said the agency's interlocutor.

According to preliminary observations, this plot of land does not pose a threat to life and health.
The headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Ulyanovsk region reported that the soil in this area was also checked for the presence of radioactive contamination, since the Dimitrovgrad Research Institute of Atomic Reactors is located not far from this village. Samples showed that the radiation level did not exceed the norm.
For now, experts intend to monitor the anomalous area and fence it off with a deep ditch, which will have to be dug by the firemen of the Cherdaklinsky district.
