Video: Creepy Sounds Captured in an Abandoned Mine While Reviewing the ThruNite TN12 Flashlight 2024, March

If you sit for a few hours, then glitches will begin. Most often, distant female voices, although there are also musical images: once I heard a naval choir singing the song "Varyag" - this is how the famous speleologist P. Miroshnichenko describes what he experienced in the darkness of the caves.

The underground voices are well known to miners and cavers. Suddenly, for unknown reasons, strange sounds appear in certain places underground. Sometimes they resemble something familiar. Listening to this when you know for sure that there is no one around is, of course, creepy. Some kind of crying of a child in an abandoned mine, female voices …

The legends about the Mistress of the Copper Mountain, about the ghosts of the dungeons were clearly not born from scratch. Accustomed to the tales of P. Bazhov, we easily perceive that the Mistress of the Copper Mountain is talking. However, the study of even school courses in physics and ecology suggests the opposite: the Mistress in flesh and blood cannot exist in mountain voids - at least some simple "mountain biocenosis" is needed.

So, most likely underground voices belong to the category - "it seemed." In the absence of ordinary channels for the receipt of information about the external world, our brain involuntarily replaces the emptiness with something familiar, pulling it out of the subconscious from somewhere. It turns out that the physical problem of the formation of underground voices has turned into a psychological problem. But is it fair?

Let's use the principle - there is no smoke without fire. Somewhere, during some processes inside the earth, “fire” appears, which creates the voices of cave ghosts. The first thing to talk about is mechanical stress in rocks. Cracks or microcracks appear under high pressure.

In continuum mechanics, this process is called creep. Every crack is necessarily a sound. Moreover, not just a "click". Usually these are damped oscillations. There are many cracks, a lot of hesitation, a "voice" appears. And our subconscious mind, apparently, decides that this is a woman's cry or a cry of a child.

Sounds from the surface penetrate the ground. There is even such a concept - underground sound channels. Surprisingly, such channels have been studied to a greater extent by marine specialists. It was necessary to look for possibilities of communication with submarines. At least through the "channels" under the sea floor. Water sound channels are not always reliable. Sound channels in ordinary soils on land have been studied less, since there was no practical need.

And in a purely scientific source, "Atlas of Temporal Variations …", in 1998 there appeared data from an experimental study of underground sounds carried out by scientists of the Republic of Belarus in various regions. Sounds were recorded at different frequencies. The most interesting is the following. The intensity of low-frequency sounds drops sharply with distance from the surface, minimum - at depths from 250 to 600 meters, and deeper the intensity increases again. Sounds with a higher frequency (more than 600 Hz) near the surface are generally negligible, but after 500 meters they are amplified.

That is, sounds are formed mainly somewhere inside the earth and come from the depths. I just want to write about the groans of sinners coming from purgatory or from hell. Science does not know at what depth these "rooms" of Lucifer are located and how much they are distributed over the space of the Earth, but somewhere there … below.

As in any inhomogeneous medium, the concentration of sound intensity is possible. When sound passes from the surrounding rocks into the cavernous void, strange physical phenomena can occur.

But the great horror in caves is caused not by simple audible sounds, but by something inaudible. It evokes overwhelming terror. In this regard, one cannot but mention the well-known Kashkulak cave.

“Those who have visited the Kashkulak cave tell amazing things. At some point, they are seized by an unreasonable panic fear. Forgetting about everything, throwing equipment, they rushed as fast as they could, overtaking each other, towards the light. Speleologist I. Baranovsky tells about it.

The Kashkulak cave is hidden in the spurs of the Kuznetsk Alatau, in Khakassia. It was a cult cave of the ancient Khakass. Here sacrifices were made to the gods, including human sacrifices. Translated into Russian, the name of the cave sounds like "the cave of the black devil".

In the story of speleologist A. Kamanov, his own impressions are described: “And suddenly I feel somehow uneasy, a vague feeling of anxiety arises. Further more. The excitement grows, and here I am, who have never been a coward, shaking all over like an aspen leaf, panic fear! And why I'm afraid, I don't know myself … . This happened in the caves of the Urals.

From the story of E. Yakimov: “Trying to fan the fire in the fire, I rested my knees and elbows on the ground, and at that moment I felt the pulsation emanating from the bowels of the Earth, the pulsation was in the rhythm of the heart, the impression was as if a huge heart was beating”. It is also about the caves of the Urals.

In one of his articles, I. Vinokurov tries to explain all these phenomena by the effect of magnetic field anomalies on people. He clarifies that "… the arrows of the compass are spinning like mad, sometimes they stick."

The compass arrows can point to anything, even in our own apartments. Take the compass and walk through the rooms. You may find that the "north" arrow points anywhere but north. The arrow is attracted to the electrical wiring, although it should not, because the wires are alternating current. In general, many of us have solid anomalies at home.

Perturbations of the magnetic field, the so-called magnetic storms, affect a person. It has a very strong effect on people with cardiovascular problems. But there is no feeling of horror. But from some sounds, horror appears.

There is an inaudible, but perceived by us, part of the sound range - infrasound. Infrasound exposure to people causes them irrational horror. Describes the first experiment conducted in the theater by physicist Robert Wood, when during the performance it was necessary to depict the "tread of times". To generate infrasound, Wood adapted a very large organ pipe.

From this "tread of times" the audience rushed out of the hall in panic. The famous French physicist Tavro built his infrasound emitter near the factory where people worked. After turning on the installation, all the workers rushed out of the workshops in horror. They could not explain their behavior.

There is a hypothesis explaining the problems of the famous Bermuda Triangle by the influence of infrasound on the crews of ships. True, for some reason an important component, the focusing of infrasound, has been “lost” in famous publications. The danger of irrational horror arises when the ship is in focus.

But there is also a tricky phenomenon - resonance. When the future academician V. V. Shuleikin revealed the existence of a biologically dangerous "voice of the sea", then the receiver of these vibrations was a resonating, hydrogen-inflated sphere about a meter in diameter. The resonance of the cavities depends on many reasons, but in relation to the combination of an air cavity and rocks, such a resonance is quite common.

Particularly important for resonance to occur is the long, narrow path and large cavity. There are even mathematical models of such systems, which are used to determine the conditions of acoustic resonance.

As a result, there are legends about the "horror of the caves", when a normal physical phenomenon operates simultaneously with the psychological preparedness of people. The peculiarity of infra-low resonating sounds is only that they are inaudible. The human body perceives them, but they are not fixed through ordinary auditory receptors. And an inexplicable fear arises.

Is it possible to somehow protect against the action of infrasound? It is believed that you can. If the expected infrasound is superimposed with a normal loud sound, for example, music. Then there is a cunning "sound masking" effect. It is described in the literature, but in relation to infrasound, it seems, has not been verified by anyone.

It's best to simply get out of these situations as quickly as possible. Powerful infrasound not only creates a sense of horror. On some frequencies, it kills.
