Legends about creatures living underground exist in many countries of the world. In Western Europe they are called gnomes, in Norway - zeta, in Lapland - chahkli, in the Caucasus - midgets of bicent, in Ancient Russia they were called ludki. For a long time these legends were perceived as exotic fairy tales far from reality. However, since the end of the 20th century, both in scientific circles and in the media, assumptions have been increasingly expressed that there is still a certain world under us, inhabited by inhabitants unknown to us and developing according to its own mysterious laws.

Amazing finds

In the early 90s of the XX century, reports of strange finds, which were made in the middle of the century by tunnellers under the Tatar Strait, leaked to the press. It is known that in 1950 a secret decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR was issued on the construction of a railway that was supposed to connect the mainland with Sakhalin Island. The place for the tunnel was chosen taking into account the opinion of geologists who discovered strange spacious voids under the strait. It was their builders who converted them into a tunnel through which a railway line could pass. According to some reports, during its laying, workers more than once found very old, but well-preserved mechanisms in the ancient voids, as well as the remains of strange creatures, which were promptly removed by representatives of Soviet special services.

The mysterious tunnels are also mentioned in archival documents preserved in the Urals. In particular, in 1748, a group of workers from the Nevyansk mine accidentally discovered an entrance covered with a stone slab into a spacious tunnel that went north along the Ural Range. The miners reported this strange find to the mining authorities. Soon a special commission was sent to the mine, headed by an engineer, a certain Rudolf Schechter. However, the rock collapse that happened on the eve did not allow the commission members to find the entrance discovered by the workers.

Foreign sources also contain references to mysterious underground structures. So, in 1978, a shepherd who lived in a small village near Lake Nahuel Huapi in the Argentine Andes, in search of a missing goat wandered into an unfamiliar mountain gorge, where he found an oval-shaped entrance in a rock, covered with a huge metal door with strange signs. The man managed to open it slightly, and in the next instant a bright light hit his eyes from the spacious corridor hidden behind the door. The shepherd did not dare to go inside, and later told one of the local journalists about his discovery.

Tunguska miracle from underground

One of the most mysterious places in Russia, associated with the phenomenon of the underworld, is the Devil's Glade, located in the Krasnoyarsk taiga. The surviving documentary materials and eyewitness accounts - residents of the villages of Kostino, Chemba and Karamyshevo - indicate that in 1908, about two months before the fall of the famous Tunguska meteorite, in the taiga, shepherds stumbled upon a vast area of scorched earth with a hole in the middle. Pets fell into it every now and then, as if attracted by an unknown force. The road along which the cattle were driven out to graze was hastily moved three kilometers to the south, and soon a catastrophe broke out in the sky over Eastern Siberia, the interest in which continues to this day.

In 1928, a zootechnician N. Semenchenko, who served the villages of the region, tried to examine the mysterious hole. For this purpose, the man used a long - several tens of meters - string with a metal sinker at the end. However, according to Semenchenko, the rope could not reach the bottom. As the zootechnician later told the chairman of the collective farm "Dawn of Bolshevism" Steblov, being near the mysterious hole, at some point he suddenly heard strange sounds coming from the depths and resembling the grinding of metal mechanisms rubbing against each other, after which he felt a severe headache and a feeling of fear, which made him hurriedly retreat …

In the mid-80s of the last century, Vladivostok ufologists who examined the famous Devil's Glade put forward the paradoxical assumption that the Tunguska "guest", which caused an explosion of colossal power, came not from the sky, but from the depths of the planet, bursting out to the surface through a bottomless hole in the famous meadow. Somewhat later, this hypothesis was supported by the version of scientists from the All-Russian Institute of Mineral Resources, who suggested that the strange explosion was caused not by the arrival of a meteorite, but by a powerful release of a clot of unknown energy from the bowels of the Earth.

Mysterious meetings

The famous Russian philosopher and traveler N. K. Roerich, talking about his expedition to Altai in 1927, mentions strange people living in alpine caves and paying with old coins. Somewhat later, it was N. K. For the first time in the 20th century, Roerich will tell the whole world about the mysterious country of Agartha, hidden in the depths of the Himalayas, where the rulers of the world live, with whose messengers the Russian traveler happened to communicate.

However, the inhabitants of the underworld do not always make contact with humans. Thus, the Nenets and Selkups living in the vicinity of the famous Putorana plateau talk about dwarf, vaguely human-like creatures, leading a secretive nocturnal lifestyle. The local population calls them "Sirti". According to legends, sirti live in underground cities, which can be entered through deep stone burrows located in the northeastern part of the plateau.

Back in the first quarter of the 20th century, there were stories in the Urals about rare encounters with divine people - small, beautiful creatures whose homes are deep mountain caves filled with bright light. The legends of the Uralic peoples claim that sometimes a chosen person can hear the voices of divine people who suggest where to look for a treasure or a deposit of gems, warn of impending disaster.

Nowadays, among the border guards serving at outposts in the Altai mountains, there are many stories about encounters with strange underground inhabitants. So, in 1992, in a gorge ten kilometers northeast of the village of Argamdzhi, while pursuing an intruder, a border guard, as they say, collided nose to nose with a creature wrapped in a skin, the size of a three-year-old child, whose face remotely resembled a human. As soon as one of the border guards threw up a machine gun, a strange creature swiftly darted into a hole hidden in a thicket of bushes …

Ancient Refuge

An analysis of the available facts suggests that an extensive network of giant tunnels and even cities connected with each other has existed underground for a long time. One of these cities, located near the Turkish village of Derinkuyu and capable of accommodating up to 10 thousand people, became known relatively recently. Scientists are still at a loss as to who and when could build such a grandiose underground shelter.

Nowadays, many ufologists, parapsychologists and psychics are sure that there are several large points-centers on the planet, a kind of nodal stations, in which the main, largest tunnels converge underground. These centers include the Medveditskaya ridge in the Volga region, the Nazca desert in South America, the Los Tayos region on the border of Peru and Ecuador, and Mount Baigong in Tibet. According to researchers of the paranormal, life still rages in these underground structures. This is evidenced by meetings with mysterious creatures, sound and light effects associated with the entrances to the Underworld, numerous cases of UFOs appearing from underground or from caves.

The age of the discovered underground structures ranges from 10-30 million years. It is quite possible that their creators were representatives of civilizations that preceded the human and had a high level of development. However, planetary catastrophes that regularly happened on the surface of the Earth forced the ancient masters of the planet to go into its bowels, where they, having adapted to the new conditions of life, most likely live to this day.
