One of them has the ability to paralyze a person's will in a few seconds and make him a real zombie. Another in the same time can turn any of us into a wild, ferocious, bloodthirsty beast that has completely lost everything human.

Self-robbery

Waking up, Christian, a 24-year-old student, found himself lying on the bare floor, and for a couple of minutes he tried to figure out where he was. And he lay in his apartment, but only from it the furniture, television equipment, safe and everything else disappeared. Staggering, Christian got to his feet and went down to the first floor, where the concierge was at his post.

“All the furniture was taken out of my apartment last night. Where were you at that time? Christian asked.

- I was there. Four of us carried it out. It took them almost four hours to bring down furniture, electronics, several large bags and load it all into the van,”the concierge replied calmly.

“So why the hell didn't you keep them? - Christian was indignant.

“You see, one of those four was you. And you told me that everything was fine and that I didn't have to worry about anything.

And then some enlightenment happened in Christian's head. He remembered how the evening began. He was in a bar, someone treated him to a cigarette, while talking about some kind of "breath of the devil" … After the first puff, Christian turned into a completely weak-willed creature. And he became completely controllable. Like a robot. Three men approached him and offered to free his apartment from everything that was in it. He took the offer as completely normal and agreed.

Christian is still very lucky - not everyone survives after exposure to such a potion as scopolamine, popularly known as "the breath of the devil".

A means of turning into a slave

In South America, scopolamine has already become widespread and is used in the underworld to bring victims into a completely helpless state - they become submissive and completely weak-willed. Currently, this drug has appeared in the United States, as well as in Europe and Asia.

Also called burundanga, this odorless, tasteless substance is obtained from the flowers of the borrachero tree, which grows in almost every South American park. And one gram of the potion costs only a few dollars, which is many times less than the local price of cocaine.

If only a few milligrams of scopolamine are mixed into tobacco, cigarettes or a portion of a drink, then the own will of a person who has lit such a cigarette or sipped from a glass will be completely suppressed in a few seconds, and he will turn into a robot, an obedient performer of other people's desires.

This is how the drug dealer Demencia Black describes the effects of scopolamine: "He will turn you into a mindless zombie, and you will do everything, absolutely everything that is told to you." This characteristic was heard from Black by reporter Ryan Duffy, who visited the capital of Colombia, Bogota, where there is a rapid surge in the popularity of the insidious drug.

And at the same time, it is very difficult, looking at a person, to guess about his defeat by the "breath of the devil". Only an experienced drug dealer like Black can tell from the victim's eyes that she is already “ready”.

This drug is successfully used by thieves, robbers and professional hitmen to prevent any resistance from their victims. Why break into a house if its owner will bring you there himself, help you carry it out and load it into a van? Why bother robbing a person if he himself will withdraw all the money from the account and without any compulsion will hand you cash? And, finally, why commit the murder ordered to you yourself, if someone else can do it for you, and without the slightest hesitation?

- People turn into slaves, completely unaware of this, and their psyche, as it were, continues to remain normal. Scopolamine is the worst drug I know, says Ryan Duffy.

The only risk the perpetrator runs is an overdose. Already 50 milligrams of the substance can be fatal for his "ward". Since they can cause paralysis of the respiratory center, and the person will suffocate. "Who needs a helpless, dying" executor "? - asks Black rhetorically.

Little is known about the long-term physiological effects of scopolamine. However, it has been found that it kills nerve cells, and this leads to memory loss. It also dries up mucous membranes. The addictiveness of a drug is difficult to assess because most people who use it remain unaware of the fact that they are using it, unlike people who use cocaine, heroin, or crystalline methamphetamine. At the same time, they often do not feel any signs of intoxication, although they completely lose their own will.

Cannibalism in the garage

However, scopolamine is not the only drug that can turn you into a zombie within seconds. There is another substance from which a person loses control over himself. But in this case, the loss of control manifests itself in an unpredictable and extremely aggressive manner. This is confirmed by the events of May 26, 2012 in Miami, when an emergency message was received by the police on duty. The law enforcement officers who were on duty that day will never forget this incident.

Here's what happened. Miami resident Larry Vega, having entered a covered parking in the afternoon, saw a naked man kneeling there and crushing another naked man to the floor. Vega demanded that the rapist release his victim.

- He just raised his head and growled, - says Vega. “And I saw that a piece of bloody flesh was sticking out of his mouth.

According to him, the man lying on the floor was bleeding, and on his face he did not have a nose or cheeks. They were being chewed by a cannibal bending over him. Police officer Armando Aguilar, who arrived at the scene of the tragedy, said later that the attacker with his habits reminded him of a wild beast.

The cannibal did not react to the demands of the police to stop the violence and release the victim. Then they started shooting. After the sixth shot, the murdered criminal fell to the floor. It turned out to be Rudy Eugene, an electrical engineer, in everyday life - a calm, balanced person. And his victim was homeless Ronald Poppo, from whom Rudy managed to bite off more than half of his face. However, despite such severe injuries, Poppo survived.

Rampant insanity stimulant

So what could turn a normal person into a maddened monster? Most likely, it was a drug known in the US as "bath salt". Experts warn people against using this white powder, which can be purchased legally in many states for $ 25 a bag. In addition to minerals and vitamins, “bath salts” contain something else - substances such as cathinone or mephedrone, in the form of white crystals. If you smell them, inhale them along with the smoke from a cigarette or "inject" them, they can change a person in a matter of seconds. Blood pressure and pulse will skyrocket, and body temperature can rise to 42 ° in a few minutes. Many of those who used the aforementioned potions, like Rudy Eugene, who turned into a cannibal, tear off their clothes. They are also prone to hallucinations and psychosis, the result of which can be exceptional cruelty towards others, as well as self-mutilation.

- If you mentally combine the most terrible results of using mephedrone. Cocaine, ecstasy and heroin, you will have a rough idea of the harm that bath salts can do,”says Mark Ryan, director of the Louisiana Poison Control Center.

Hence - the recommendation of the police: to stay as far as possible from this zombie drug, sold under various names, for example "Bliss". And this despite the fact that, having tasted such "Bliss", a person is able to pounce on others, maim and kill them.

Two different drugs have emerged, predominantly spread across several continents and affecting the users of them in different ways. And yet they have one thing in common: just a few milligrams of any of them is enough to completely deprive a person of self-control and throw him into the abyss …
