It ends with "shiva" after Ariel Sharon, one of the most prominent Israelis. Sharon passed away on January 11, 2014 after spending eight years in a coma. According to one version, the former prime minister suffered as a result of the kabbalistic curse of the "pulse of denur". By the way, the number 8 in Kabbalah is responsible for the heavenly forces and the higher will.

The ten chosen rabbis meet at midnight in the synagogue. They light black candles, blow the shofar and read certain passages from The Zohar.

If the one against whom it is directed really deserves punishment for what he did and poses a serious danger to the Jewish people, that person will die within a year. If the rabbis are wrong, the curse will turn against them.

This is what is known about the kabbalistic curse of the "pulse of denur". Whether it really exists, and if so, how effective it is is debated.

What is Denura Pulse?

The very name "Denura pulse" is translated from a mixture of Latin and Aramaic as "blow with fire", "fiery rods". Rabbi Eliyahu Essas speaks of "a spiritual cord of fire (belt, whip), on which rings of fire are strung." In fact, we are talking about punishing a person at the spiritual, essential level, which, as a result, affects his condition in the physical world.

"Pulsa Denura" is considered the most powerful curse and can only be directed against Jews - in the Zohar passages "keep the commandments" are mentioned, and it is highly undesirable to make changes to the text of the curse.

Promotional video:

It is believed that the "pulse of denur" is a last resort, a kind of kabbalistic nuclear weapon, when other options have been exhausted, therefore it is used extremely rarely. It is necessary to inform the person that the rite of "pulse of denur" was performed against him. So he is given the opportunity to repent and correct the mistake.

Kabbalist Yosef Dayan notes that this is a prayer calling on the Supreme Judge to deliver a verdict on a particular person's case. If the judge is called in vain, and the person is not guilty of being incriminated, the one who called him as a false witness will receive the same punishment that he wished for the one whom he wanted to condemn.

In which Hebrew texts does it appear?

The phrase "pulsa denura", that is, "fire rods", appears in the Talmud in several places as a punishment for angels and higher entities, but it is nowhere mentioned as a ceremony directed against people or a ritual leading to death.

* Treatise Yoma p 77a - beats of the "pulse of denur", such a punishment was received by the angel Gabriel, * Treatise Hagiga 15a - punishment of Metatron, * Treatise Bava Metzia 85b - the punishment of the prophet Eliyahu after he was in heaven, for trying to reveal a heavenly secret to mortals, * Treatise Bava Metzia 47a, in which Rav Rava says to Rav Huna: “If this Levi asked me, I would have hit him with blows of fire”. In other words: “I would hit him for such stupid questions, so that sparks fell from his eyes,” that is, an exclusively figurative expression.

In The Zohar, the “pulsa of denur” is mentioned several times as “rods of fire” as a punishment for sinners.

As Nehama Polonski notes, if the mention of the rite of the "pulse of denur" is in Jewish texts, then they do not belong to the mainstream of Judaism or to the mainstream of Kabbalah.

Against whom was it used?

The "pulse of denur" ceremony, with varying degrees of success, may have been conducted against a number of prominent representatives of the Jewish people.

- Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, "the father of modern Hebrew." The newspaper "Ha-Tzvi", founded by him, with its publications aroused the anger of the ultra-Orthodox community, and a kabbalistic ceremony of damnation was allegedly held against the linguist.

- Leon Trotsky - it is alleged that Rabbi Chafetz-Chaim cursed him for bringing great misfortune to the Jewish people and trying to alienate the Jews from religion. However, this is doubtful, because Hafetz-Chaim died in 1933, and Trotsky was killed in Mexico in 1940.

- Gershon Agron, Mayor of Jerusalem. In 1959, a “denura pulse” was held against him due to the opening of a pool in the place where there could have been Jewish graves earlier. He passed away two weeks later.

- Eyal Ragonis, architect who designed and built the Givat-Andromeda complex in Jaffa. The Haredim believed that construction was being carried out in part on the site of an ancient Jewish cemetery. A former special forces officer of the General Staff, 37-year-old Ragonis soon suffered a severe heart attack from which he died.

- Ihtsak Rabin, Prime Minister of Israel. He signed an agreement with the Palestinians to create a Palestinian National Authority and was ready to make further far-reaching concessions, for which he was sentenced. A month after the curse, he was killed. The well-known publicist Avigdor Eskin claims that he personally took part in the ritual of the "pulse of denur" directed against Rabin. Kabbalist Yosef Dayan, who was also present at the ceremony of the curse, confirms his words.

- Ariel Sharon, Prime Minister of Israel. Six months later, he fell into a coma, and eight years later he died.

- Ehud Olmert, Prime Minister of Israel. In July 2006, a group of right-wing activists read the kabbalistic curse against Olmert at the cemetery on Mount Herzl. In January 2014, Olmert is alive.

- Ehud Netzer, archaeologist. He devoted his life to finding the tomb of King Herod. When he found it, representatives of the ultra-Orthodox community warned him not to open it, otherwise he would be cursed by them. Netzer did not listen, and in October 2010, talking with colleagues at the top of Herodium, leaned against a wooden parapet. Suddenly, the railing came off as the fastening bolts collapsed. Together with them, the archaeologist himself fell down and crashed to death.

- Naftali Bennett, the Minister of Economy, in April 2013 received an anonymous letter, in which it was reported that the "pulse of the denur" was conducted against him and his family for the harm he had caused to the religious community. “Days of bitterness await you. From that day on, your life is ruined. " In January 2014, Bennett is alive.

There are other examples of conducting a kabbalistic rite against certain people, but the cases when the “pulse of denura” worked against those conducting them are little known.

The attitude of the authorities to the "pulse of denur"

On August 30, 2005, the legal adviser to the government, Meni Mazuz, decided not to open a criminal case against those who conducted the "pulse of denur" ceremony against Ariel Sharon.

Mazuz noted that they appealed to higher powers, and not to people, and the prayer-wish for death to a person, although it should not be part of a social norm, is still not incitement to murder and fits into the framework of freedom of expression.

Different points of view on the "pulse of denur"

Grigory Kotlyar, the first Russian-speaking reformist rabbi in Israel:

The denura pulse ceremony in its present form is not mentioned in any ancient or medieval Hebrew text. Moreover, curses, especially in the name of God, are repeatedly forbidden by the Torah. In fact, this is what the third of the Ten Commandments speaks about - “Do not pronounce the name of the Lord your God in vain; for the Lord will not leave without punishment the one who uses his name in vain."

The very expression "pulse denur" in translation from Aramaic means "fiery blow", and the word pulse is borrowed from Latin, which indicates its relatively late origin. It is found in the Zohar, but as a punishment from above, and not as a ceremony initiated by a person.

Judging from the descriptions given, the modern "pulsa denura" is a variation of the ancient rite of excommunication from the community (herem). The same entourage is evident: ten Jews (minyan), extinguishing candles, blowing the shofar. Yes, only the sherry declared haredi in relation to secular Jews does not frighten anyone, so they gave it a new meaning for the uninitiated, so that it was scary. So, most likely, the true addressee of the “pulses of denur” is not the heavenly angels, but the superstitious and sensationalist Israeli public and the press.

MT: I believe that the "pulse of denur" could be read against Ariel Sharon, and this curse led to a coma. I had to face it personally. The famous archaeologist Ehud Netzer, who found the tomb of King Herod, was a friend of our family. I remember how he sat in our kitchen and ridiculed the rabbis who “sentenced” him to damnation for opening the grave of the Jew Herod, and literally a week later Netzer fell from the top of Herodion and smashed his head on the stones.

Pinchas Polonsky, researcher of Judaism:

"Pulse Denura" is not an ancient Kabbalistic rite, but a kind of remake, an attempt to strengthen the "herem" - excommunication from the ultra-Orthodox community. When at some point they ceased to be afraid of "herema", they came up with the "pulse denuru".

If modern Kabbalists could juggle the world as they are told, there would be no Catastrophe, they would have changed the course of history in time. But Kabbalists are not magicians.

On the other hand, there is some kind of balance in the world, let's call it justice. Sharon's decision to "unilaterally delimit" broke thousands of fates, he was cursed - not by Kabbalists, but by ordinary people - and this hit him with a boomerang. Curses and blessings are valid in life. And those who do not understand anything in Kabbalah believe in the “pulse of denur”.

Avigdor Eskin, publicist and public figure:

The ceremony of cursing Yitzhak Rabin was organized by me. Later, apparently out of inertia, they repeatedly wrote that I conducted the "pulse of denur" against Ariel Sharon, but this is not true.

To understand the reason, I want to remind you of the time and mood that reigned in society. Yitzhak Rabin had more than a year left until the end of his term, but he promised to hold Oslo-2 and Oslo-3 before the end of this term. This meant the complete withdrawal of Israel from the Golan Heights, the beginning of the division of Jerusalem. Events developed rapidly, and many had the impression that everything was going according to the South African scenario - we were losing the country, and the government had lost control over the situation.

A friend came to me, an IDF officer. He was in despair and said that he was ready to personally kill Rabin. I rejected his idea - the attempt would not change anything, but something had to be done. And then I organized a prayer-curse. To stop this nightmare, and if not, then let the punishment overtake the one who is responsible for everything.

We have coordinated our actions with the chief rabbis of Israel in advance. Of course, they did not participate, but they knew about what was happening. Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi Meir Israel Lau was categorically against, Chief Sephardic Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu sympathized with us to some extent.

Our prayer consisted of two parts - public, on camera to voice our protest, and closed - I won't tell you what they were doing there. This happened on the eve of Yom Kippur in 1995. We said we would set aside 30 days. And on the 31st day, Rabin was killed.

I would like to highlight this moment. Then everything boiled so much, the tension was felt in the air. This was not the case with Sharon or anyone else. Perhaps our prayer somehow influenced the energy balance. Today, the "pulse of denur", read against someone, will not work, because there is no such energy.

Pulse denura exists, but it is a rare marginal method that should not normally be used. Its meaning is not murder. There is no purpose to eliminate a person. We are talking about prayer, an appeal to the Almighty. It is aimed at ensuring that a person stops his destructive activities. If he does something else, that's enough.

But it is important to understand that the "pulse of denur" is not a focus for eliminating enemies. If there was a ritual to neutralize the villains, then Hitler would be stopped in time. But our world is different. There is no force that would guarantee an immediate solution to problems of this kind.

This is a prayer that has a certain power, but this power is concentrated in higher hands. And those who believe that a certain magical rite can kill anyone are pagans.
