The photograph, which captures former US Secretary of State Colin Powell, at the moment when he demonstrates a test tube, allegedly containing anthrax spores, during a UN meeting, became widely known throughout the world. This situation occurred in 2002, that is, shortly after the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.
Independent German journalist Ken Jebsen interviewed Heiko Schöning, MD and writer, to find out his views on how he feels about Western politicians speculating on anthrax and even risking people's health for their own benefit.
To begin with, Schoening recalled that Colin Powell came up with a test tube that allegedly contained anthrax spores in order to accuse Iraq of spreading it to the United States, as well as involvement in the terrorist attack with the Twin Towers.
As noted by Heiko Schoening, it later emerged that the Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein did not have anthrax spores. At the same time, the doctor of medical sciences is convinced that the US Secretary of State even then, at the UN, knew perfectly well that the dangerous virus in his test tube was taken from an American laboratory, and not at all from Iraq. In recent years, Schoening has conducted extensive research and has written a book on this topic based on information obtained from open sources.
After the terrorist attacks and the mailing of anthrax controversy letters, members of the American parliament were so terrified that they passed legislation that severely limited the rights of US citizens. And that was only one of the consequences of everything that happened. According to the doctor of sciences, the second important consequence was that the American authorities began to blame Iraq and personally Saddam Hussein for everything.
The writer notes that at that time all the American media persistently insisted on the presence of anthrax spores in Iraq. Senator John McCain then spoke and said that the US authorities are not 100% sure, but still assume that it was Iraq that was to blame.
According to Schoening, it was thanks to the disclosure of this information that the war in Iraq was postponed for two years and began only in 2003, and not in 2001. According to the doctor of medical sciences, in 2003, the informant of the American intelligence services, who again spoke about anthrax in Iraq, was a former German spy. However, German intelligence immediately warned the United States that this man should not be trusted, he is clearly lying.

During the interview, journalist Ken Yebsen recalled that the United States made good money on anthrax and domestically. Soon after the attacks, the authorities began to massively vaccinate the military, firefighters and police against the disease. True, the vaccine had some side effects, but this was not important, because serious money had already been invested in its development, and the finished vaccines were paid from the budget. As a result, now it has become a large-scale business, and the journalist asks the question, when did anthrax suddenly become a real business?
According to Heiko Schoening, it all began before the 9/11 attacks. Everything was planned, and there is real evidence of this. He said that in the 1990s, part of the British laboratory that was developing biological weapons was privatized and fell into private hands. She went to immigrants from Lebanon, who at that time lived in Germany.
As the writer notes, from the American side, Admiral William Crowe, who was also an adviser to the President of the United States, was definitely involved in this. It was he, the expert claims, who received more than 20% of the business, and he himself did not pay a cent for it. And during the stock market crash, it was the only company whose shares did not collapse, but rose 250%. And only this company now has an anthrax vaccine.
Heiko Schoening recalled that the first version of the vaccine began to be supplied to the military during the Gulf War. And some scientists suggest that its side effects could have seriously affected the health of the fighters.
As noted by the doctor of medical sciences, in 2008, US President George W. Bush unexpectedly declared a state of emergency in the country for a period of seven years precisely in connection with anthrax. Thanks to this, another 18 million doses of the vaccine were sold. This time, vaccinations were given not only to the military, but also to police officers, doctors, rescuers, emergency workers, judicial officers, and so on.
