Western media are vying with each other about how Russia in a pandemic boasts of military power, holding parades. And Western readers went even further and simply sneered at the Victory Parade and veterans, and maybe not only: "Some people will never die."
A number of publications in the United States and other countries criticized the holding of the Victory Parade in Moscow. Someone connected the criticism with the coronavirus, someone did not like the demonstration of military power, and someone even saw a connection with the amendments to the Constitution in the celebrations.
Readers left hundreds of comments under the news about the parade, ranging from frightened and outraged to downright offensive. The publication "Inosmi" translated some of them.
Most of all went to the Russian president:
“Some people won't die,” laments Nicolas Crowhurstt. “How much happier we would be without Putin, and the Russian people too. But nothing lasts forever,”reflects Mrs M.
The pictish poet warns: "Okay, the contagion curve is going to jump up, because Putin is ignorant." And On2Thought predicts that in 2036 Putin will host the parade again - he will be 83. “Now remember what kind of zombies were 75-year-old Brezhnev in 1982 and 73-year-old Chernenko in 1985,” the commentator suggests.
However, some of the readers could not contain their admiration for the magnificent spectacle that was played out at the walls of the Kremlin.
JohnOC wrote: "I bet Trumpin is jealous of the real Putin." And Apocalypse Orange addressed words of support to the Russian leader: “Excellent shagistika, Vladi! Trump would love it!"

A certain Far Traveler admitted that he rather agreed with the Russian vision of those historical events, and recalled who actually defeated the Nazis: “A couple of years ago I visited the National Museum of World War II in New Orleans. I was shocked that neither the heroic role of the Soviets, nor the contribution of the Resistance was found there. It feels like the US fought the Nazis alone.
