“We try not to talk about this place. Anyone who often remembers this glade soon dies,”the inhabitants of the Loknyansky district of the Pskov region say about the mysterious glade.
The fears of local residents are not accidental. One of the villages of the Loknyansky district has completely died out in just 30 years. No, people did not leave their homes, they all died, and the worst thing is that most people died an unnatural death. Either a man at a construction site falls, or a bull gores a farm worker to death, or a boy drowns in the lake. Often, young and healthy people died of unknown diseases.
Hole-funnel - a portal to the other world?
The first rumors about unexplained phenomena in these parts appeared after the war. Once a group of guys came to the aid of a shepherd, to help him find sheep and goats lost in the forest. Far away in the forest, the guys found themselves in a gigantic clearing, but most of all the children were struck by the charred earth. Before their eyes, the cattle they were looking for ran to the middle of this clearing, where they suddenly burst into flames and burned up. The guys ran back to the village and told their fellow villagers about it. The grandfather of one of the guys said that when he was young, he was there and saw a huge crater in the ground and incomprehensible shadows next to it.
Local legends say that a person who steps into this clearing either disappears or loses his mind.
There is a legend that 300-400 years ago there was a castle in the meadow, which was the residence for several generations of Russian princes, and occult rituals were held here. One night, a strong thunderstorm began, and several strong lightning struck the castle, after which the castle fell into the ground. Over time, the clearing was surrounded by a dense forest.

The hole in the clearing dragged on, but a long stay in this place was considered dangerous. Most often, animals suffered. Gradually, the anomalous field expanded, pulling the nearby villages into its "nets".
In the 60s and 70s, scientific expeditions often came here, but none of them returned home in their original composition. The members of the expeditions themselves did not want to tell anyone anything about the damned glade. For unclear reasons, many researchers, after visiting the meadow, lost their hair, while others developed severe headaches, most of them died.
In the same years, another burst of activity occurred in the Loknyansky District: sometimes rays appeared in the night sky above the forest, which beat into the clearing. In the daytime, strange mirages arose over the villages, terrifying the locals.
Another strange incident that caused many residents of the area to leave their homes happened in 1978. Once, after heavy downpours that lasted almost a week, water washed away the old cemetery twelve kilometers from the clearing. It turned out that hundreds of years ago the buried corpses did not decompose at all. Even the clothes worn by the dead retained a great look.
In several villages of the Loknyansky district, no one was left at all, only abandoned dwellings remind of the seething life in these parts. The rumor of a cursed meadow continues to circulate among people. And only the most desperate adventurers dare to go in search of her in order to find death there. Unfortunately, neither scientists nor paranormal experts have yet determined what is the cause of the anomalies in Loknyanskaya Glade-Death.
