Cemeteries, abandoned houses, dungeons … In these places (especially at night) people usually feel uncomfortable. Thoughts about ghosts, living dead and other devilry come to mind. But the roads with vehicles moving along them do not cause any fear of the supernatural. Although this is where a lot of chilling incidents take place.

Places of destruction

They are found on transport routes in many countries of the world. On such sections of the road, motors stall, brakes fail, instruments junk. Cars are thrown into a ditch, into the oncoming lane, or they seem to run into an invisible obstacle. Drivers are no better. Either they start to fall asleep, then the pressure rises, the pulse and breathing rhythm slows down, which leads to loss of consciousness, a state of causeless fear and panic arises.

There are dozens, if not hundreds of accidents per year, “dead zones”. For example, in the Czech Republic, on the Brno-Prague section of the highway, almost 400 accidents occurred in a year. In Germany, near the road sign "239th kilometer" during the same period, more than a hundred cars crashed. There are similar places on our roads.

Mysterious disasters

The most common version explaining the cause of the mysterious disasters is geopathogenic zones. Underground rivers, ore veins and crustal faults are capable of forming terrestrial radiation hazardous to humans. Their action can cause weakness, drowsiness, headache, hallucinations, disorientation and loss of consciousness. Seizures can be provoked in people with cardiovascular disease.

Another explanation is the old cemeteries, through which the highways were laid. This assumption is also not groundless, because it happened more than once that after the consecration of the "sworn" section of the road or the reburial of the ashes resting under the road surface, the accidents stopped.

Accused of the ongoing outrage and the dead motorists, whose souls allegedly cannot calm down and provoke other drivers into accidents.

Driver hunt

In the United States, a young woman was hit by a car on an Oregon highway. Since then, the ghost of the deceased has appeared on this mountain road. And woe to the driver who stops when he sees the "voting" figure. The spirit of a woman beckons a careless person who obediently follows, not noticing the opened abyss.

And sometimes a girl appears in front of a car rushing at high speed. In an effort to avoid a collision, motorists turn the steering wheel to the side and … find themselves at the bottom of the gorge.

Another ghost, however, already in Germany, "specializes" in luring late passers-by into the railway tunnel. The ghost carries people under the wheels of rushing trains. For 32 years, 19 people have become its victims.

And the ghost from the English county of Devon became famous for his hatred of motorcyclists. His first victim was a doctor who was riding a motorcycle with two children. Suddenly, the doctor felt as someone invisible tore the steering wheel of a motorcycle from him. The driver managed to hold the steering wheel for a few more seconds, and the children jumped off before the motorcycle rolled over. The children who unanimously claimed that they saw a pair of hairy hands emerge from the void and began to pull out the steering wheel, no one believed.

But a few weeks later, history repeated itself. At the same place, a bus turned over and several people died. The shocked driver swore that someone invisible tore his steering wheel away.

The history of this machine is reminiscent of Stephen King's novel Christina, which tells the story of a Cadillac that is possessed by an evil spirit.

It all started when its owner crashed into a ditch on a completely flat road. The medical examination established that there was no alcohol in the victim's blood.

The driver's widow's car did not stay long. During one of the trips, the woman was twice tried to strangle someone's invisible hands. Naturally, she immediately sold the car for almost nothing.

But this was not the last resale. The next owner of the insidious vehicle got rid of it after the car, with the handbrake on, started to move on its own and pressed its new owner against the garage wall, breaking both legs of the man.

The car was bought several more times, but its "character" did not improve at all. Either she always strove to turn into the oncoming lane, then the ghost of some old man appeared in the cabin.

The last owner of the damned car stopped driving from the moment he thought he hit a man.

Exception to the rule

However, not all "car" perfumes are so hostile to people. Being merciful during life, they continue to do good after death.

An ordinary Brazilian doctor has devoted about half a century to his hard work. His patients lived in the countryside, and the doctor had to wind hundreds of kilometers a day in an old Ford.

When the doctor died of old age, the peasants asked the relatives to give them the car to put it as a monument to their beloved doctor. Since then, miracles have begun. It turned out that the truck had acquired healing properties: as soon as the patient sat in the cab of the Ford, allergies, toothaches, and abscesses passed as if by magic. Thus, hundreds of peasants were cured.

Road to nowhere

Unreasonable accidents and ghosts are not the only things on the freeway nightmares list. There are cases when people disappeared on the roads without a trace.

As an example, one can cite incidents on an abandoned postal road leading from Vladimir to Kolomna.

Since 1885, travelers began to disappear there. One at a time, several at a time, along with carts and horses. Peasants, drivers, postman, member of the local council. Each time the search was carried out more and more thoroughly, but they did not lead to success, which excluded attacks by robbers and accidents. In just 36 years, at least 19 people have disappeared without a trace.

Studies of the Earth's geomagnetic field in that area at the end of the twentieth century revealed an extraordinary "curling" of the magnetic field lines, reminiscent of the effect of the Bermuda Triangle. Perhaps this is the reason for the disappearances.
