For more than 30 years he has found on his site and not only amazing objects from different eras.

The Fatyanovo ax from the 2nd millennium BC, a mass of beads from amber to rock crystal, crosses, silver chains and even a savings book from tsarist times with impressive denominations … All this is just a small part of the collection of a 61-year-old resident of the village of Veski, Likhoslavl region, Viktor Bulkin, which is kept today in a small corner of the local village library. As Viktor Vasilyevich himself says, since he found it, he should not keep it at home with seven locks, but show it to people.

By the way, in the folk tradition, treasures were always treated with caution. And to the people to whom these treasures are opened, and even more so. They believed that they have special abilities and that many of the secrets of the world are subject to them.

But Viktor Bulkin never noticed hidden abilities behind him. He says that miracles and magical accidents began to happen to him when he acquired the coveted plot. Though…

- I was imprisoned for curiosity from an early age, - he shares, opening the creaky door of his little museum. - I have always had a craving for knowledge, for history, I even once dreamed of going to college, but this specialty did not work out. He replenished his interest by always collecting something. Even as a child, my collection of coins was quite good. But the most amazing thing, of course, began with the arrival in Veski.

A former Chernobyl survivor, a military chemist, after the liquidation of the accident, he decided to recuperate in the village, especially after the institute for distribution, his wife ended up in a village near Likhoslavl.

On the road at the entrance to Veski I looked at a plot, the trees were too beautifully inclined to the plot, like a hedge. In 1986, his dreams were heard, and he became the owner of the ownerless at that time 21st sq.m. This was the beginning of a new stage in the life of an officer in Bulkin's reserve.

Mysterious stone gnome

A year later, cultivating the beds for potatoes, a small stone figurine lay in the shovel along with the ground. Having cleared the dirt, Viktor Vasilyevich shuddered, a real gnome, though "injured" without one hip and foot, was looking directly at him. And it must happen that after 20 years, as a result of many years of garden excavations, the leg of the gnome was found piece by piece.

Since then, this sculpture has occupied an honorable place in the collection among mossy pieces of marsh ore, from which the first iron was once mined, and among even more ancient marine fossils. After all, as the excavations of an inquisitive peasant showed, an ocean in which ancient reptiles lived long ago splashed on the Vesok site.

“I don’t know the date of this figurine, where it comes from,” shrugs Viktor Bulkin. “But even if it is absolutely not valuable from an archaeological point of view, it is valuable to me. This gnome seemed to say to me: "Be more attentive in the land on which you live." I just obeyed.

Traces of an ancient culture

Viktor Vasilyevich has a lot of stories with finds, sometimes amazing stories. His eldest daughter once joked: "You probably scattered all this in that life, and now you collect it." He liked the joke. Although in the village many consider him an eccentric - walking around, looking out, collecting some stones … It's all strange.

By the way about stones

Viktor Vasilyevich once noticed that nothing really grows on the second part of the site. He raised the sod, and underneath it was some kind of round masonry. Even the grass is difficult to break through. And in 1997, he again seemed to feel that his name was.

He took a shovel, stuck it among the birches and took out a black, carefully polished piece of stone with a neat hole in the middle. Tver archaeologists, who visited him only once, dated the find as the Fatyanovo ax of the 2nd millennium BC, by the way, one of the most, if not mysterious, then definitely curious cultures.

- It happened, as Chernobyl overtook me (health deteriorating - Ed.), I sit down to watch TV and take this ax in my hand. And literally after a while, it becomes so hot that it is even difficult to hold.

At such moments I sit and think how much effort I had to put once in this stone so that it would respond to the hand of a person in such a way. Probably, this is a miracle for me, - shares Victor Bulkin.

Silver chain behind the stove

Archaeological finds and even small treasures - as if waiting in the wings, the collector is sure. This is exactly what happened with the cross that Viktor Bulkin now wears around his neck.

As always, I felt the call, went out into the garden, although a heavy rain had just passed. He looked around, and at the very edge of the garden there was an ancient shabby cross, as if just waiting for him.

Another story happened a little later. Again, with a shovel in hand, I decided to disassemble a small hole in the garden and came across the old masonry of the stove. As soon as he took it in his hands, the bricks cracked, and the decoration fell out of them.

When I began to look, I realized that an unknown person strung five silver scales, ancient money of the 16th century, on a later silver chain with a gold clasp. Therefore, some kind of beauty in it flaunted at the village festivities. Only when? And this, too, is still in question.

The chain was hidden for several centuries among the bricks of an old collapsed stove

Soldier's Chest with a Secret

Already finishing the tour of the mini-museum, we come to a large wooden chest. What would seem special? But this is one of the most recent amazing exhibits, which has kept its secret for almost 100 years.

- One of the villagers brought it to me from a local kindergarten. He stood there for a very long time, no one was interested, ” Viktor Vasilyevich says quietly, narrowing his eyes. - I began to wash it in order to bring it in a divine form and accidentally grabbed the shelf with my right hand, and she took it and moved. It turned out that there was a secret compartment in the chest with a secret.

And there is a savings book of 1916 in the name of Ivan Bogomazov and 380 royal rubles.

- I think it was military money after the service. Why the soldier Bogomazov did not tell his relatives about them, we can only guess. Most likely, he died early or the injury affected. But if transferred to our money, then it was a large amount. At that time, a spruce blockhouse cost 60 rubles. It turns out that you could buy 9 huts. But it didn’t happen,”suggests Bulkin.

And the chest turned out to be with a secret …

Viktor Vasilyevich can tell stories for a long time. He has a whole collection of them … As well as objects that he accidentally found in the land he accidentally got. It remains only to ask: why are archaeologists not showing interest in such a rich collection?

- They came to me only in 1999. They said one thing - look for sponsors to make a test excavation and somehow justify the expedition, - the collector recalls. - Where can I find them then? On that and said goodbye. Since then we have lived in peace. Everything is overgrown on the site, as it was. And I still hope that some point on this land and finds will still be set.

Only Viktor Vasilyevich opened a secret department with a hidden surprise

Archaeologist's comment

Oleg Khizhnyakov, archaeologist with 25 years of experience, specialist in the Russian Middle Ages:

- The material collected by Viktor Bulkin is of scientific interest, since the things found at one site belong to different historical periods. As for the Fatyanovo ax, it is possible that there was a burial on the site, it is there that such objects are found.

In general, it would be nice to do some research on this land. In addition, local authorities should pay attention to the museum in order to preserve the collection.
