Forty years ago, it was fashionable to summon spirits in pioneer camps and at youth parties. Among other forms of leisure for young people and children, summoning spirits was unrivaled. So in the pioneer camps this process was led by the pioneer leaders, and introduced the young Leninists to the mysterious world of spirits. The spirits of Pushkin, Tolstoy, Gogol and Dostoevsky were especially popular.
Probably, these classics of Russian literature were especially close to the souls of well-read pioneer leaders. Tolstoy's books, suspended on scissors, spun briskly and answered a variety of questions from the pioneers.
Even then I had a suspicion that the spirits of the literary classics were not real, but imaginary.
Perhaps a certain astral entity pretended to be the spirit of the great classic, but at the same time she regularly informed about what the inquisitive pioneers were trying to achieve from her. What, the spirit of Tolstoy has nothing to do but answer the stupid questions of the million-strong army of pioneers?
Psychiatrists have long noticed that the number of persons posing as famous figures of the past has a geographic reference. So if in Russia mental patients impersonate Guy Julius Caesar, Napoleon, Kutuzov, Suvorov, Alexander the Great, Pushkin, Tolstoy, etc., then among the Swedes the most popular character among the mentally ill is Charles 12, in England - Queen Victoria. This allows one to suspect that even if essences infest the patients, then at least not those for whom they claim to be.
One can also recall in this regard, very popular in the era of the gloomy Middle Ages, massive dances possessed by spirits. And the indiscriminate slander of the peasant women, who confessed in connection with the devil, during the trials of witches.
However, the existence of imaginary spirits or spirits that do not pretend to be who they are in fact does not cancel the real habitation of real spirits.

Three in one
So psychiatrists S. Tiguana and H. Checkley in their sensational book "Three Faces of Eva" described the fate of a 25-year-old girl, in which three persons lived independently of each other. Moreover, each of the personalities had its own way of thinking, its own original manner of speaking, each had its own handwriting. The first person - Eva Black was an extremely intemperate, frivolous person who embarked on all sorts of adventures. Another personality, Eva White, was highly critical.
She intervened when Eva Black planned to kill her own daughter and prevented the crime. The third person, named Jane, appeared only under hypnosis. She knew about the existence of two personalities of Eva and tried to reconcile them. The most curious thing is that Eva went through many doctors, she was subjected to dozens of intelligence tests, she was constantly taken electroencephalograms. All indicators of the brain, its biorhythms in the three personalities of Eva were completely different, as if in three different people.
The Shattered Person
Even earlier, at the beginning of the twentieth century. the neuropathologist M. Prince in the book "The Shattered Personality" described a 23-year-old girl in whom 4 personalities coexisted. Three of them did not know about each other's existence and periodically changed, displacing one another. The fourth person, who asked to be called Sally, was an exception. She knew about her friends and did everything to spite them. So, she smoked in spite, knowing that one of the personalities does not tolerate tobacco smoke. Once she was badly burned and made another suffer from pain, diving deep into the subconscious in time.
In the book "Sybil" the journalist R. Schreiber describes a woman in whom 16 individuals lived, two of them being men - Michael and Sid.
Suicide spirit
Another case was described already in tsarist Russia. In the Tauride province, in the village of Novovasilievskoe, there lived a servant Dunya. Dunya was periodically tormented by an evil spirit. He demanded from her that she feed him what he liked. When Dunya denied him excesses, cries and groans began, those around him asked: "Dunya, what's wrong with you?" To which they received the answer: "This is not Dunya, I am Svirid Stepanovich." He was asked: "Who are you?" And he answered: “I am from Mordovia, I went to Kiev to pray. Quarreled with a friend. At the same time, I had neither water nor food, I got angry with life and hanged myself on a pine tree.
After his death, he wandered for a long time, and now, one benefactor put me in Dunya, but she does not feed me what I want. So I’ll ask her …”And again cramps and moans began.
Settler Entities
The Komi people call such a person "Sheva". In the North of Russia, the ritual of inviting an entity-settler inside is still in progress, which, having moved in, begins to predict and prophesy. At the same time, it is believed that it is not the possessed one who prophesies, but the sheva, who possesses knowledge inaccessible to man. In Indonesia, family fortune telling is still in use. A large tablespoon is taken, dressed in the shirt of the deceased and placed on his grave. After that, the spoon begins to bounce - "dance". By the nature of the movements, they judge what the future holds for the family.
In the same area, another rite is practiced. Two teenagers are chosen to find out the thief. They are given a strong stick in their hands. Each of them pulls its end of the stick towards itself. After a while, teenagers begin to notice that the stick is twitching in their hands. Then she starts dragging them along. She drags them over fences, thorny bushes into the house where the thief lives. A stick with two teenagers breaks into the house, looks for the thief there and starts bludgeoning him. Another way to find a thief exists in Indonesia. The priest sits on a special bench, which itself, without apparent effort on the part of the priest, takes him to the thief's house.
