Residents of the small village of Woodland in the English county of Durham go crazy with a mysterious hum that keeps them awake. The villagers claim that every night there is a noise similar to the sound of a large engine running

Sometimes the hum is so strong that the beds in houses tremble. No one can explain the reasons for this phenomenon, although UFO theories and hypotheses about abandoned mines are used.

The news of the mysterious noise spread throughout the UK through the television show The X-Files. The last such case was recorded in 1970 in Bristol, where thousands of people complained of dizziness, epistaxis, insomnia and severe headaches - something similar is now happening in Woodland. The hum starts at midnight and dies down by four in the morning. There are no factories or abandoned mines nearby, and residents of the village have no way to sleep well. The noise vibrates and pulsates, penetrates the head - villagers complain. Many Woodlands residents are on the verge of a mental breakdown. At the same time, they become objects of ridicule by their neighbors.

The authorities do not yet know what the matter is, and how to help the unfortunate.
