An experimental coronavirus vaccine being developed in the United States is ready for human testing. Writes about this The Wall Street Journal.
The mRNA-1273 vaccine was developed by the pharmaceutical company Moderna in partnership with the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). The manufacturer claims that it managed to create a drug in record time, which, according to the head of NIAID, is already ready for human trials.
The company will select 20-25 healthy volunteers in April 2020 to determine a safe dose of the drug as well as its effectiveness. The test results, according to WSJ, will be available in July or August 2020. However, the publication notes that the effectiveness of the technology used by Moderna has not yet been proven.
Earlier, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui said that China has developed a vaccine against the COVID-19 virus. Previously, the drug proved to be effective, but it still needs additional testing and refinement before launching it on the market.
