In the Chinese province of Guizhou, there is an unusual rock. For a long time, local residents have been observing a strange phenomenon: egg-shaped stones gradually form on the rock and, eventually, fall to the ground. But thanks to the geological examination, the reason for this phenomenon was found.
Geologists may have uncovered the secret of the Chan D Ya rock, which translates from the Chinese as "rock that lays eggs." Scientists have found that the rock was formed 500 million years ago in the Cambrian period, and a certain part of it consists of limestone rocks. Scientists believe that the difference in the time it takes for each type of rock to break down led to the formation of "stone eggs".
The rock is only 20 meters long and six meters high. It is located in the vicinity of Gulu Village, Sandu County, Guizhou Province, in the Dengan Mountains.
Residents of a nearby village take the stones home. It is believed that if there is a stone egg in the house, it will bring happiness and good luck, so people go there to get this treasure. For this reason, only 70 "eggs" survived, the rest were lost and stolen.
