Archaeologists have found an important artifact for the history of mankind - a statuette of a female figure from the late Paleolithic times of 40-12 thousand years BC. e. The find was made in the Renancourt area of the city of Amiens, the Picardy department in northern France. Archaeologists note that it is in excellent condition. This was announced on Friday, November 6, by the National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (INRAP).
According to scientists, this is an exceptional find, since the figurine is in excellent condition. The figurine is an artifact belonging to the Gravetian culture.
“The 4 cm high figurine belongs to the Gravetian culture of the late Paleolithic. She is 23 thousand years old,”the message says.
According to scientists, the statuette will help scientists to more deeply explore the art of the Paleolithic and add knowledge about the culture, which is directly related to modern mankind.

In addition to the figurine itself, archaeologists found several clay fragments and the remains of tools. The exact purpose of these tools is still unknown, however, according to archaeologists, this site could have housed a workshop where local artisans made religious items. After additional research, the statuette will be exhibited at the Picardy Museum in Amiens.
