The famous Norwegian traveler and archaeologist of the 20th century, Thor Heyerdahl, called our Earth the planet of the pyramids. And it is absolutely no coincidence. Structures similar to the Egyptian pyramids have been and are still being found not only in America, China, Japan, but also in Peru, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, and Russia.

The end of the XX - beginning of the XXI century was marked by new discoveries and new mysteries. The similarity of the found structures with the pyramids of Egypt may indicate the existence of connections between continents or the parallel development of civilizations on all continents.

Pyramids in translation from ancient Egyptian meant conical bread, and from ancient Greek - an altar, bonfire, fire. The so-called "age of the pyramids" usually refers to the structures of Ancient Egypt, dated from 3000-2263 BC.

Scientists around the world are still arguing about the purpose of these structures. The shape of a pyramid with four isosceles triangles and a square base was created gradually. The prototype of the Egyptian pyramids is the ziggurats. This form is typical of the multistage structures of Ancient Mesopotamia, Elamite, Babylonian, Assyrian and Sumerian architecture. Ziggurats could consist of 4-7 towers, which were located one on one and narrowed upwards. The most famous example of a ziggurat is the legendary Tower of Babel described in the Bible. The construction of the tower dates back to the 7th - 6th centuries BC. Unfortunately, archaeological excavations did not reveal traces of the tower, and it was suggested that it collapsed, and stone slabs were used by people to build housing.

The analogues of the pyramids of Egypt also include Buddhist stupas (temple mountains of Southeast Asia) and theokalia (stepped towers in the territory of Ancient America).

All these ancient structures are united by a common archetype - a staircase to heaven, a symbol of the world tree and the image of a mountain. The pyramids were symbols of resurrection (not without reason for most of them the entrance was built in the east), peace and durability.

Based on the assumptions of scientists, the pyramids could perform various functions:

  • Tombs.
  • Astronomical and astrological orientation.
  • The place for initiation is priesthood initiation. Those who wanted to introduce secret knowledge were left in the pyramid. The initiates fell into a special state, joining the mysteries of death in order to be reborn and comprehend the foundations of the universe. Later, this tradition found its continuation in the rituals of the Freemasons. The very shape of the pyramid was symbolic. The foundation symbolized nature, all living things on Earth, and the consistent narrowing of the pyramid upwards - narrowing the circle of those initiated into the knowledge of the nature of things.
  • Amplifier of energy flows. The site where the pyramids were built, due to its astronomical orientation, is a powerful amplifier of energy flows that emanate from space.
  • Strengthening power.

One of the most recent discoveries is the Greek pyramids, which were built almost simultaneously with the Egyptian pyramids. In Greece, only 8 pyramids were found, and Mount Taygetos, which also resembles a pyramid in shape.

Theodorus Spyropoulos, who discovered these pyramids at the end of the 20th century, hastened to declare them the prototypes of the Egyptian ones. Greek scientists began to study the surviving pyramids. For research, the method of optical photothermal irradiation was used. Based on the results of the research announced by Pericles Theocharis, the pyramid at Helleniko was built around 2720 ± 580 years. The Ligurian pyramid, which measured 14 × 12 meters, was dated to about 2100 BC. ± 600 years. The Greeks immediately stated that the structure at Helleniko was a century older than the oldest step pyramid of Djoser.

Skeptics drew attention to the inconsistency of the chosen method for determining the age of boulders, because radiocarbon analysis is usually used for this purpose. Later, the use of the radiocarbon method put everything in its place: the Greek pyramids are the younger sisters of the Egyptian ones.

But nevertheless, we note that the pyramid at Helleniko was mentioned as early as the 2nd millennium BC. Pausanias. He writes that "on the way from Argos to Epidaurus" there is a structure "very reminiscent of a pyramid," and in it are buried those who fought and died in the battle for power between the brothers Acrisius and Proit. The entrance to the conical Mycenaean pyramid is on the east side. The remainder of the pyramid suggests that the pyramid at Helleniko was built in the form of a ziggurat.

Most of all, the tomb of Amphion and Zeta is similar to the Egyptian pyramid, the construction of which dates back to about 2500-2000. BC. It is called the Great Greek Pyramid. Amphion Hill, a four-tier stepped pyramid, is associated with the history of the founding of Thebes. In Greek mythology, both Cadmus and Amphion are called the founders of Thebes. According to ancient Greek legends, the play of Amphion on the lyre, a gift from Hermes, set the stones in motion and made them fit in the right place. But the family of Amphion was unlucky, the angry gods listened to the false accusations of Leto, the daughter of the titans, and sent a plague on the family of Amphion. Amphion himself and his brother Zet, after death, were buried in a common grave located north of Thebes. During the excavation of the hill, T. Spyropoulos discovered an extensive system of tunnels and rooms inside the hill, and suggestedthat one of the rooms could be the grave of the brothers.

Many researchers believe that the Dioscuri brothers (Amphion and Zeta) were real people, Egyptians. Researcher Richard Poe believes that the pyramid of Amphion was built by an Egyptian who moved to Greece. In addition, typical Egyptian motifs were found in the tomb: a typical Egyptian floral ornament and gold pendants in the shape of lilies. The tunnel for the "exit of the soul" is oriented towards the North Star, as in the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops).

Of all the Greek pyramids, the pyramid in Crete is the best preserved, but it is also the least studied. The structure on the island of Crete, located south of the port of Chania, has the shape of a cone. It is only known that this structure is located at an altitude of 290 m above sea level, has a base circumference of 29 m long and a height of 8.5 m. Inside this cone there is a chamber that is carved into the rock. The dimensions of the chamber are slightly more than two meters in length and width and 1.4 meters in height. The entrance to the chamber is located not from the east, but from the west. The orientation of the pyramid towards sunset is also found in the southern pyramid of Pharaoh Sneferu, in Dakhshur, built in the “age of the pyramids”. This structure is called a broken pyramid because it has been rebuilt several times. Interestingly, the western entrance was unsealed only in the middle of the 20th century, and no burials were found there.

The next statement of T. Spyropoulos, associated with the Greek pyramids and speaking about the existence of a forgotten civilization and the ruling elite of which in the III-II millennium BC. consisted of Egyptians also not confirmed by historical data. Many historians believe that the Minoan civilization implied by T. Spyropoulos can only be spoken after 1950 BC, moreover, during the Minoan civilization, the dead were burned and buried in urns in bulk graves.

The development of Greek civilization is attributed to a later time than in the valley of Mesopotamia and the Nile, where society reached significant development already in the III millennium BC. The result of the development of society in Egypt was the construction of the Great Pyramid at Giza. This is the only wonder of the world that has survived to this day.

The dimensions of the Greek pyramids and the imperfection of the architectural performance speak in favor of the adoption by the Greeks of the idea of building the pyramids. Naturally, the priests, in whose management were a small, compared to Khufu, population, could not build huge structures. But why do almost all scientists say that it was the Egyptians who built almost all the pyramids? Some researchers even say that the pyramids in Australia and America were also built by immigrants from Egypt. What, then, should be the level of development of the Egyptian civilization to spread its influence over the entire planet?

Thus, there are more questions than answers regarding the construction of the Greek pyramids. What do you think, could there be a single Civilization in ancient times? Leave your opinion in the comments.
