On January 21, 2019, a Reddit user shared a story about how she and her family met a werewolf-like creature on the night of the Blood Moon.
“Last night, me, my husband and our 8-year-old son went camping in southern California. We have been walking this tourist route for 13 years. Some trails lead to caves, others to secluded beaches, we decided to go to the beach.
At about 4.30 am we went on foot along the trail, and then we saw the moon. And this Moon was so huge, I had never seen anything before. I even took some pictures of her.
It was half past six when we went along a different path and we were not alone there, there were also other family travelers. At some point, I gazed at the moon, and my husband and son fled further ahead.
And so, when all three of us were walking along the path again, my husband suddenly saw a tall and completely black humanoid creature standing on two legs. It was on the son's side and was only about 9 meters away from him.
At that moment, when this creature noticed that my husband was looking at him intently, it suddenly fell on all fours and began to look like an animal, and then ran away.
My husband shouted to his son to come up to us, and then he started shouting that he would run to pursue this creature. I myself am afraid of dogs and I decided that he saw a dangerous stray dog.
However, the husband said “This is not a dog, it is much larger, the size of a bear!”. However, he insisted that when it stood on two legs, its silhouette was exactly human. He also said that this creature was blacker than darkness itself.

We all three stood as if in touch, scared and not knowing what to expect next. We were in the middle of a hiking trail in the wasteland, where only the emergency telephone worked. And now we were completely alone, there was no other person in sight.
We were so scared that we decided to quickly go back to our car. But this meant that we must again pass by the place where the husband saw this creature.
My husband said that it ran down the path, but when we returned, we saw footprints that led to the left of the path. But then we saw a dark figure rush to the right side of the path.
There was a fence and it had to jump over it to continue on its way. We didn’t see how it jumped over the fence, and we didn’t see or hear anything else. The husband said it just disappeared.
We continued our way back and were on the alert, expecting every rustle. Finally we got to the parking lot, and then the son said that he saw something sneaking away from us. He wanted to run there, but we didn't let him.
We were still in shock and that night we all slept in the same room. The son said that he felt that this creature was following us along the path.
The next morning on the news, we heard about the fact that it was the night of the Blood Moon and now we are 90% convinced that we saw a werewolf.
Moreover, this place with rocks is known for the fact that many people died here earlier. They either fell from rocks or drowned on the beach."
