Wisconsin is an agricultural state of the United States, producing more than 13.5 billion liters of milk every year, which is almost equal to the production of milk in the entire UK. They are also famous for their cheeses. It is the 23rd largest state in the United States with the 20th most populous. There are many plains and small hills covered with farms.
And there are also many different monsters. There are really many monsters. Including werewolves.
Some of the first Europeans to populate Wisconsin in the 1800s were immigrants from Germany who brought with them numerous folklore beliefs in werewolf werewolves. After them, the Scandinavians, Irish, Dutch, who were also close to this topic, poured here. And then it turned out that among the local Indians there were legends about werewolves.
However, officially the very first story about a meeting with a werewolf in Wisconsin is a much later case. This was in the 1930s. A certain driver was driving in a car in Jefferson County and saw a man in a field who seemed to be digging in the ground. But when the creature straightened up to its full height, the driver saw that it was not a human at all.
He described that the creature was completely covered in hair and without clothes. Outwardly, it looked like both a large dog and a monkey. The man saw the creature's hands especially well. They were large, but resembled human hands.
Then another werewolf was met in 1964 and the message also came from a driver passing by the farmland. Denis Fevless saw a strange creature crossing the road right in front of his car, jumped over the fence and disappeared into the field. It was covered with long brown hair and had a human figure, but its head was completely doglike.

The monster continued to be observed from time to time in the Wisconsin fields throughout the 70s, but since 1989, sightings have become more frequent. So in 1989, a certain Lorianne Endricci saw a dark figure on the side of the road, not far from the town of Elkhorn. She was also driving and first noticed the creature from afar, mistaking it for a hitchhiker.
But when the woman rode closer, she saw with horror that this was not a man, but a thin tall creature with the head of a dog. It was covered in wool and with glowing yellow eyes.
Later that year, a local farmer saw a similarly described creature, and an 11-year-old local girl said that she saw a "large dog on two legs" cross her path.
Cases like these continued until the 90s, and the 1999 case even made national news. It is noteworthy that it was Halloween night, when children dress up in different costumes and go from door to door begging for sweets. For 18-year-old Dorstin Gipson, however, it didn't seem like a joke when something large crashed into her car as she drove along a quiet country road at dusk.
The girl was not timid and stopped the car, and then went out to see what kind of animal it was. She thought it would be a deer, but saw something huge, fanged and hairy, that jumped in her direction, not looking at all injured from the collision with the car.
Out of fear, the girl rushed to her car and quickly drove along the road, but the monster chased her. Fortunately, he quickly fell behind, and the frightened girl drove to the police station and told everything there.
Of course, they didn’t believe her. This is Halloween - horror stories, monsters and all the things. However, the statement was accepted, and then the case was highlighted by local journalist Linda Godfrey and he spread all over the media. Since then, Linda Godfrey has devoted herself entirely to the study of the phenomenon of werewolves and strange wolf-like creatures and has collected many more cases of seeing such creatures in Wisconsin. So in 2006, near the town of Nashot, three men were driving along the road and noticed something that crossed the road almost in front of the hood of their car.
They described that the creature walked on all fours, but its back was much higher than the front. Approximately as a person moves on all fours. In this case, the creature was completely covered with wool. They could not see the head, but they were sure that it was not a deer or a bear.
Linda also once received a letter from a woman who described seeing a two-legged wolf in 1990 or 1991.
“It was in the spring in the Westby suburb around 5 am. I was driving to work and this creature on two legs with the head of a wolf appeared to the side of the road, and then it ran and appeared right next to the door of my car and hit it. The window on the other side was open and I got a very good look at his head, before speeding up and quickly leaving.
It was the exact head of a wolf and it was on two legs. Looked very real and didn't look like a costume. He was much taller than my car when he straightened up. His fur was dark gray. And it hit the car door very hard, but then I couldn't find even a small dent."
