In 2005, American Tanya Vlach lost her left eye in a terrible car accident. Since she was a fairly well-known artist, the loss of an eye could cost her career and she was very worried about this

But, having overcome the attacks of depression, Tanya realized that perhaps this was a unique chance for her to create something truly unique, for example, to make a web camera instead of an eye prosthesis.

From the point of view of fiction, this idea has been erased to holes. Back in 1970, the television movie Six Million Dollar Man used the image of a biorobot with camera eyes. Or, as a slightly more recent example, the Terminator robot.

But in real life, no one has done such things with a person. In addition to the camera, Tanya wants the camera to have its own application and control the camera from external sources. Also, the camera should have sensors that respond to flicker and allow you to focus the photo, scale them, so that the camera can be turned on and off at will, so that there is a function of recognizing faces, surroundings, and sensitivity to light.

All this filling will certainly not be cheap, but Tanya does not lose heart. She already has 15 thousand dollars collected from sponsors who are interested in her project and she continues to advertise it.

Tanya Vlah already has ideas for writing a graphic novel, filming documentaries, creating web projects, all with the help of an eye prosthesis. This technology opens up a vast world of opportunities where disability can be beneficial.
