Bozena Danilovic, 28, suffers from disordered spatial awareness. Her case is unique in that because of this, she does not experience constant dizziness, but sees the world upside down.
This means that an employee of the Uzice City Council in Serbia reads documents, books and newspapers upside down. At work, she was met halfway, given the unusualness of her illness, and the display of her computer is adjusted accordingly: she sees pages on the Internet, official forms and other electronic materials she needs normally only because they are turned upside down.
The story is the same with the keyboard - in the case of Bozena Danilovich, it is positioned in exactly the same way, so that the brain perceives it as a mirror image, and the girl can do her job efficiently.
At home, Bozena watches TV all alone on the second floor, because it is upside down. The whole family at this time watches films and shows at the first, where the technique takes its usual position. Her parents recall that when her daughter began to crawl, she moved in the opposite direction, the same thing they observed when she began to walk. Mother even had to take a long vacation to teach little Bozhena to walk like all children. This was the very beginning of her unusual life.
“It may seem incredible to someone, but for me it is absolutely normal. I was born this way, and this is how I see the world around me, for 28 years now,”says an expert on economic issues. It is worth noting that this rare disorder did not prevent her from graduating with honors from college.
American neuroscientists from the University of Massachusetts and Harvard University called this disorder "the phenomenon of spatial orientation or perception." “They claim that my eyes see everything in the correct position, but my brain“twists”this signal, and I end up seeing everything differently from other people, but upside down.
But they cannot explain exactly how this happens and which part of the brain is responsible for it,”Bozena said. “The experts told me that they know the stories of several people who claimed that they write the way I do, but none of them see the world the way I do,” she added.
