Today you and I live in a constantly evolving, incredibly technological world full of amazing new discoveries and constant, incredible breakthroughs in science. Sometimes it seems that in this new world of technological magic, there is no longer room for medieval witchcraft. However, this is not so: sometimes advanced high technologies collide with the real occult.

One of the most fascinating recent inventions is the 3D printing process, in which a three-dimensional object is recreated on a computer-controlled printer. The basis is either a 3D drawing created by engineers, or a real model converted to 3D by scanning.

The scope of this new technology is truly limitless. The printers print parts for cars and airplanes, consumable tools for medicine and accessories for the furniture, clothing and other industries. Even completely finished products (such as mobile phones) and even food products are created using 3D printing. But what else to expect from 3D?

Karl Pfieffer and Connor Randal, two explorers of the paranormal, have embarked on a bizarre experiment - making copies of some famous museum pieces with a trail of ill fame behind them. And as the first sample for scanning and modeling they chose the so-called Catskills Doll ("The Crone of the Catskills").

This wooden figurine was found in a cave in the Catskill Mountains, New York and was a carved wooden figurine with nails driven into its eyes and a rope tied around its neck.

The person who found it brought the figurine home and literally on the same night strange things began to happen in the house - in the morning strange traces of wet feet appeared on the floors, there was a sulfurous smell of a rotting pond in the air, and the figurine was not where it had been left the day before.

Every day the inexplicable statuette manifested itself more and more and the person who found it experienced something that you will not see in a horror film: the nails sharpening from the doll's eyes at times began to move independently, a crucifix cracked and broke on the wall, and eventually the owner of the house saw one of the dark corners of the swamp witch.

Promotional video:

Frightened beyond all measure, the man gave the figurine to a friend who was engaged in magic and the paranormal, but the doll also brought him to a nervous breakdown, after which it was transferred to a private museum of this kind of objects for storage. However, the museum did not stay on display for long.

The owners of the museum documented several cases when visitors who began to show interest in the doll were literally covered with strange spots before their eyes, and accidents happened to those who touched the figurine. Ultimately, the doll was hidden away and taken out of the box just for scanning and 3D printing.

True, the work did not reach the print, because when trying to scan the figure, the scanner was irreversibly out of order.

Karl Pfiffer and Connor Randal did not attach much importance to the event. They postponed the scan, and turned to a ready-made scan made in another museum from the so-called "ghost mask".

Here's what they write about the job:

When we started the project, we, like all users, had some faults with software, then faults with equipment. But when the printer caught fire on the print of the duplicate mask and completely melted, it was already a little too much.

Thus, new technologies in one sense or another begin to complement our old knowledge of magic. After all, it was not even about “total replication” of the object's image, copying it down to the last molecule. In fact, only its form was repeated. Nevertheless, for the repetition of the paranormal activity of objects of the same form was quite enough.
