Each city has its own piece of mysticism, and Krasnoyarsk is no exception. As elsewhere, we have our own chroniclers and eyewitnesses of horror stories. Although in comparison with other cities ours is relatively quiet and the ghosts in it behave decently, there are still creepy stories that are passed down from generation to generation.
Elena BERSHADSKAYA, specialist of the Krasnoyarsk excursion agency of the Travelers Center, spoke about them.
What is a dungeon for?
One of the most mysterious places in Krasnoyarsk is a large underground in the area of Revolution Square. It starts from the building of the Theological School, where the military hospital is currently located, and stretches to the regional administration (formerly the Mother of God Cathedral of the Nativity was in its place). Further, the tunnel continues to the Bishops' House. The information that these three dungeons were real was confirmed to me by people who then walled up their entrances. I will not say that their construction was associated with something mystical. They were created for practical needs, for example, so as not to move around in the cold in winter. Even on big holidays - Easter or Religious processions - the streets were very busy, and the dungeon made it possible to quickly and safely get to the cathedral without making your way through the crowd. Also, there was definitely a tunnel from Kacha to the Yenisei. Heavy trucks moved their loads along it. I saw him with my own eyes. Masonry of this underground passage has been preserved in the basement of one of the Krasnoyarsk houses.

Where does the ghost live?
Almost all of the most terrible and unexplained cases took place in the historical part of the city. And one of these stories continues to this day. Legend has it that a ghost of a black lady lives on Revolution Square, pushing people to inappropriate actions. According to legend, a ghost appeared during the period of prosperity of the subculture of the Goths and criminal "dark men" of the 90s. They loved to gather in this place, took the victims passing by on "weak" and during the fight they robbed, even killed. We now have a new subculture - street racers. They love to drive along the streets of the city, and for some reason especially on the Revolution Square. More than once the riders themselves said that when they gather in this place, there is a feeling that someone is encouraging them. There is some kind of inexplicable energy in the square, which intoxicates the minds of people. Fact:terrible accidents happen and people die on a regular basis.
Whose ghosts are in the house?
There are many stories related to the Krasnoyarsk ghosts. In one of the very first stone buildings erected in the city, the Krutovsky estate, during the restoration of the house, workers could not work at night. They complained of strange sounds that appeared from nowhere: someone's steps, conversations, laughter … As a result, the builders refused to work. The owner of the house decided to call the priest from the church to consecrate the estate. Oddly enough, but after this Christian rite, all extraneous sounds and noises stopped.
Another creepy story, confirmed by teachers, is associated with the Krasnoyarsk gymnasiums. Many students and teachers say that they have repeatedly seen in the buildings of educational institutions a punished boy standing in a corner. He usually stands, facing the wall, and does not move at all. At first, the gymnasium workers thought it was a student. But this theory was refuted by the fact that the boy suddenly disappeared. One may or may not believe in it, but many have told about it.
Of course, any self-respecting museum should have at least one ghost. And, judging by the stories of the staff of the Krasnoyarsk Museum of Local Lore, it is so. Somehow, our scientists conducted regular historical research: they sorted out exhibits, dug new facts - in general, they sat until night near their finds, as befits people who are passionate about their work. Suddenly, the silhouette of Fridtjof Nansen, a Norwegian explorer-traveler who died in the 1930s, began to appear. Museum staff say that they still periodically hear strange sounds in the halls and think that these are anomalous phenomena.
