The destruction of Richmond during the Civil War in the spring of 1865 happened as if by itself, the main battles were for St. Petersburg, and Richmond suffered along the way, the arsenal exploded and the city burned down! That is, there was no long siege and shelling! This is an important point to further understand the severity of the damage to the city. Special damage that I stumbled upon while looking at the photo.
But first, for comparison, I will give a few photos of modern Aleppo, which has been bombed by all and sundry for a long time.

Scary to watch, horror …
Now Richmond in the spring of 1865 …
Well, everything is clear, the fire, the floors burned down the houses, everything collapsed as clear as day. I was surprised earlier by these grandiose destruction, but I had nothing to catch on, only oohs and oohs.
However, quite by accident, I carefully examined one photo and noticed amazing shadows … Here is this photo. Look carefully!
Now the details!
The shadow from the stairs on the wall. No sun rays can leave this shadow - the radiation should be too low, practically parallel to the ground.
The shadow from the shutters, the shutters burned out, but the shadow remained …
Moreover, these shadows from the shutters only on this side of the house on the other are just soot.
But of course I would not make any assumptions on this one case alone. I came across another photo with an even more distinctive shadow!
Pay attention to the house in the left corner, on it there are shadows from two trees, the trunks of which are still left …
Bigger now.
It is clearly seen that even the trunk and large branches gave a shadow, the crown gave a shadow, but the area where the middle branches and leaves have become dark a little, like the entire wall.
Naturally, this is not an atomic bomb explosion, otherwise there would be nothing nearby, but all the more strange and incomprehensible is this weapon. It is very similar to a micro explosion - a bright flash and powerful radiation that left shadows, but did not even damage the stairs or the tree trunk. Or maybe this is the same heat ray?
