One of the most burning topics around cellular communication is its safety for humans. And this is easy to explain: for thousands of years a person lived without a mobile phone, and in just a couple of decades the whole world became enveloped in wireless communication! And what effect it has on a living organism is difficult to assess, if only because too little time has passed to make definite conclusions.

Nevertheless, it is cellular communications that have come under the greatest attack. Although we are surrounded by other wireless technologies, for example, WI-FI. Now a router can be found in almost any apartment, or at least at neighbors. Let's figure it out: which is more dangerous than a WI-FI router or a cell phone?

The simplest thing to compare is the maximum transmit power. For a regular WI-FI router, this is 0.1 W. For a phone, the maximum power is higher - 0.25 W. At first glance, everything is clear, but it is not.

The maximum radiation power for a phone is 0.25 W, and for a WI-FI router is 0.1 W

At the maximum power, the phone works only in the search mode and only when it cannot reach its operator at lower values. If the phone always searches at the maximum, then the network will experience interference that interferes with the normal operation of the system.

During a telephone conversation or working on the Internet, the phone emits much less: 1-10 μW. That is, thousands of times less than a Wi-Fi router. And when the phone is in standby mode and there is no active data transfer session, the smartphone does not emit anything at all.

At the same time, the WI-FI router emits constantly at a given power. And the radiation power will be higher than even from a working phone.

However, even an active access point is within acceptable limits and no proven harm from it to the human body has yet been identified.
